Building a Business on Hive and Hive-Engine: Restricted Securities, Tribes, and a Full Business Loop via Woo Commerce

in #hive-engine4 years ago (edited)

Ok, so, blockchain is cool as can be, and you'd like to use it for a business! But where to start and what to do?

Hive Engine is a very early platform designed to facilitate business via blockchain and has a number of tools to help people do that. In the toolbox are legal services, website creation, and a commerce tool. These things collectively help you spread your business far and wide.

Getting customers is hard. Hive-Engine helps!

As an inventor you might spend a lot of time figuring out a piece of software or product to put out in the world. That might sound challenging, but it pales in comparison to actually turning your idea and your product into a profitable business. It turns out that the real heart of growing your business is acquiring customers.

Engine can help you in two main ways. The first is that by building off of Hive and Hive-Engine you have a built in community of crypto hounds to start from. It's hard to ignore how much time saving this can enable. By locking into a group that has an interest in your company succeeding the whole community has an incentive to help you grow.

The second piece is that you can build your own community through Tribes!

What's a tribe and how's it get me money?

A tribe at it's core is a website. It's a service provided by Hive-Engine where a user can create their own token, distribute it like Hive does through posting rewards based on stake, and what closes the loop is that because we're now integrated with Woo Commerce (which associated with word press) you're now able to build your business and accept your own token back for value. So, mint a token, and list things for sale that can be purchased in that token on standard Word Press commerce sites!

When you create a token the first question you'll be asked is "what gives this value?" The ultimate answer is that people accepting it for value is what gives it vale, and the best way to start is to accept it for value yourself for a good or service. Then you start getting the word out. This is where the token really shines. You can rely on other people to help you!

By using micropayments in your token currency to blog about the service you're offering you're able to incentivize an audience of people to talk about you, and you're using a micropayment blogging system to help you collect customers. Not only are they spreading the word about your product and services, but they're often attracting good customers that are already familiar with blockchain and cryptocurrency.

What's it all cost?

The cost to start tribes is based on the platform token BEE which goes up and down with market forces. Currently there's a lot of BEE for sale at 1 BEE = 1 HIVE.

To create a tribe you need to burn 100 BEE when creating the token.
1000 BEE to enable staking.
You have to pay hive-engine 1000 BEE to enable scotbot, which is the tool that distributes the tokens like Hive does.
You then have the option of creating a website like hive.blog, which we call Nitrous. Nitrous costs 1000 BEE to create and $50/month for us to operate for you. If you don't want to spend $50 per month you can host the service on your own, or you can stake BEE (up to 5000 BEE max) for us to host the service for you and staking waives the monthly cost.

How does all this relate to a business?

I'm not an attorney and can't give you legal advice, but you may want to consider if it's in your interest to create a corporation, and have a security token for the operation. It can allow you to legally raise money as a corporation from investors. There's a couple of different options. Some let you raise an unlimited amount of money from accredited investors. Some let you raise a limited amount of money from non-accredited investors.

The cost for that can range, but roughly speaking getting your business incorporated and setup to legally raise money in the united states is around 10,000 USD. It's a service that can be brokered through Hive-Engine.

I am too stupid to get the total cost down so dumming it down to this:
100 BEE burn to create token
1000 BEE burn to enable staking
1000 BEE burn to enable automatic distribution
1000 BEE burn to create website using token
5000 BEE staked or $50/month for host service.

Did I get this right? A little confused when first 100 BEE gets burned to make token not clear if the others are also burn rates? 8100 BEE in all or 3100 BEE and $50/month. This all sounds really cool. Thanks for the work you put into creating HIve-Engine.

Could also be 3100 and self hosting.

100 BEE to enable staking.

I believe this is a typo.

Must be, it was 1k right?

EDIT: Yes, just check it and 1k is right.

Making money is important. You can't live without money.
What’s your opinion about the measures of our new normal?
Our leaders imposed some measures that reduce our liberties so, they have the burden of proof, the responsibility to offer us the proof for their measures. Without proof 1 theory is just 1 speculation.

What's the proof?

Nothing stopped our leaders to reduce our freedom with zero proof so far, so what's gonna stop them to continue reducing our freedom?

i don't believe making money is enough. In vain you make money, as long as you live in a zero freedom world.

What do you think?

What you could do is group up with friends in your town, make a plan and build a corporation. Every friend works 4 hours a week by growing crops in a aquaponics system and sell the crops. With the earning you make the system zero energy. After that fund household after household zero energy (with batteries) at the same time you create a small aquaponics system at home for your own crops. So you don't pay any utility bill anymore, you grow food in a community and teach others how to grow food. You now have the basic thing you need. Food and energy... that way you beat the system. By 2030 we need 50% more food so I took aquaponics as an example. It could be anything. When everyone has everything then it could lower the cost of your rent. The idea is from a man In Africa it's a way of life but then smaller the African way is too big to begin. Free yourself instead of watching at governments and waiting. The Money system is air and based on luwering people in debt and finishing them with debt collectors keeping them in debt. ( this is the way of the Netherlands your bill becomes 4 fold if you can't pay bills after jobloss etc. The Dutch taxes is corrupt also but that is now taken care of after a big case)

How is your suggestion relevant for someone who lives in rent and has no land?

Sorry for the late reply. Well you can begin with one room or better shed someone has spare. If your Friends doesn't have that you can begin smaller. Every one has one wall spare (with the aquaponics system) you could begin simple with every person another crop. You could devide the sprouting one person sprouts the seeds and devide the sprouted seeds with your friends. The friends takes care of new seeds letting some crops flower. You could begin with the plastic bottle system. After that is going and earning you could switch to aquarium one person is breeding the fish one person or team is seeding the seeds the others do the aquaponics system. Everything begins small... but could you also begin with a community. There are rooms in Holland available for that I don't know about other country's. The sport is begin with nothing build it up to something.

Awesome suggestions.
What do we do about the stuff to come?
i mean: soon enough we live in a world in which we have to play by their rules, because we have to scan our health passport at every entry point.
What do you think?

Well that went overboard in Holland. But if they try to do that globally then there is something else going on. And we also have the mind enhancing chip that can be implanted at every corner soon. Well I would take one and feel like a million dollar man while it lasts before we turn into those ai from the matrix if someone resists.. Every good thing invented can be used to do something bad. Buttt we will see in the autumn what happens... You can't resist it is futile. 😉 but you can disrupt the whole thing play by their rules and win on their turns. Electricity is power... Mr tesla wanted free energy invented it and got smashed because you can't put a meter on it. So free energy exists all the rules in physics are inveted by people who want to put a meter on electricity.... how is a elephant trained? Yes by fooling him in the beginning. Last but not least... this time is a time of consumers... people work because they want things every year a new phone car bike couch etc. But if the couch is still good... why need a new one. Someone allways will have something better then you be happy if you have someone to love, food on the table and a roof over your head. Few weeks ago it was my birthday had my family over and was happy with just a Donald duck booklet and said it costed too much.

You can't resist it is futile.

So you choose to give up your freedom.

Hmm, going to save this for later, a little buy now. I was just thinking today it would be cool to give tokens for people interacting with my posts and then if they collect enough coins they could claim an art commission. I figured I could maybe achieve this with NFT's in the future if they get implemented (or is this supposed to be the NTF? sorry I'm still learning) :D

Would there ever be a day where the price of Token Creation and tribe maintenance be raised? Say to create a token it is 1000 BEE..

This is the answer to a question I was asking over on Hive What -- but hey, I have no problem working with Hive Engine when the time comes for me!

I am a massive creator here on Hive, and I plan on flipping a great deal of it into books and Amazon and such ... but they have a rule that restricts what can be sold elsewhere ... blah, blah, blah ... but it would be nice to have an online bookstore that I can move work into BEFORE and AFTER dealing with their restrictions, and it would be wonderful to accept Hive for whole collections of work that are still good but paid out in terms of the seven-day rule on the chain -- later readers would have a chance to get caught up and get more content as well instead of going back into my profile.

I also produce a great deal of music and an increasing amount of video content, and it would be lovely to have collections of that for sale in Hive as well.

Is this something that can be done -- does this sound doable?
