Aureal: The updates so far

It's been a while since the last post. There have been some escalations since then.

Aureal is evolving as we move forward. Since the inception of Aureal on Hive, We published a MVP which would help us get more insights about the consumer behavior and help us solve the necessary problems of customer onboarding. Hence we decided to give it a new look which helps make the journey easier.

Aureal Web is Renewed!

• The new UI is specifically making it easier to make the onboarding process easier.
• We are integrating Keychain with the Web platform very soon!

Aureal is Live on iOS

With blood sweat and tears, a similar experience which all the apps including Ecency has to go through to get them on iOS. Aureal is available there too.

As mentioned in my business model post, it's time to move forward with what Aureal can be rather than what it is.

What's happening further?

• KeyChain: To get better accessibility to Aureal.

• There is a human element missing from the overall experience. The team is focused on getting new users on the platform now that Aureal is available on all devices.

• Aureal Rooms is coming very soon! Your very own podium where you can go live, interact with your audience and post the recordings exclusively on Aureal meanwhile streaming it on multiple platforms like Youtube Live.

• As Rooms go Live, We're starting our own hosting, Hence your podcast can come to Aureal, can be hosted here on decentralised storage.

• Analytics: We understand it's important to understand your audience. Hence we're exploring the different metrics important to you and giving you a better interface to understand your audience.

• Merchandise integration with your podcast/brand.

• Referral program: So that you can earn rewards further to engage content creators and listeners into this spectacular ecosystem.

Our Journey has just begun, We'll evolve along the way.

I'm impressed with your progress!

Here's a quick feedback:

• when I load it, the website seemingly doesn't stop loading
• there is no way to explore podcasts & the app without being logged-in. Is that your goal?
• when I go to https://aureal.one/about-us and reload, it then shows me Podcasts, Explore, Live etc. Relates to prev. point. Personally, I think people should have the ability to explore the app without needing to sign-in.
• loading time for the explore page is somewhat slow, roughly ~6 seconds until all podcasts are loaded. What's your tech-stack and/or where is the bottleneck (API, Database)? Are you caching results?
• explore page responsiveness isn't smooth and a bit buggy in 320px/425px width

1. I figured it started happening recently and I only noticed it today. We rectified this.
2. The goal was certainly to get as many users onboard as possible. We wanted to try out the approach with forced signup/login process to experience the app. But we hear you and I shall accept some of other users had pointed this out, so we have now enabled explore section pre-login too.
3. This is related to feedback point 1.
4. We realised this but had not spent anytime to try out caching methods. We today have added basic api level caching with 5 min expiry. Bottleneck or the places there is scope of improvement is DB query optimisation and caching( we add this today so you might experience some improvement there now) .Regarding tech stack : Webapp - Anguar 9, Mobile app - Flutter, Backend - Node with Postgresql DB.
5. The web app is not build to support screens lesser than 767px. So if the app is rendered in smaller screens, a screen loads that basically points the users to download iOS or Android app. The reason being:

• From our finding most of the podcast listening happens on mobile platforms. So we emphasised on getting the users to use our mobile app instead of the web app.
• The reason we had web app to is to give initial impressions of what Aureal is and some features that specifically podcasters would want to use were expected on desktop and to facilitate the same we built the web app.

I have a question. I'm managing the @nfthypesquad account and we're thinking about starting a podcast. An important thing for us would be to add a podcast episode to a post on our blog on peakd, so the people can listen to it directly in the blog post.
Is that possible?

👍🏻 Great work! Just registered and downloaded the App in the App Store. Looks good but sometimes still a bit slow and unstable. But I‘m sure that will be fixed soon.
