Occasionally I peel back the curtain to my "Real Life" and let you peek at what I do outside of the digital realm.
Today is a big step for me in the "Real World" as it marks a major step in my journey to relaunch a business that I once had.
The condensed version for you guys is this:
I was Pre Med. I graduated in 2012. I ran a Nutrition Store to figure out why America is so unhealthy.
"People came to me, after going to the Doctor and would say "My Doctor told me that if I lost 20lbs, that I could come off my... Blood Pressure, Cholesterol or Diabetes Medicine... Sell me a pill to make me lose weight."
I would tell them:
"Hey guys, first - this isn't Cocaine! Secondly, it doesn't work like that! Even it did though... the moment you stop taking it... you'll gain all that weight back... tell me... HOW IS YOUR DIET...?"
They'd tell me "Oh it's terrible... but I thought Doctor Oz said..."
Me: "F#@$ Dr Oz... He's just saying stuff to sell you something and I am trying to FIX the issue... WHY is your diet terrible"?
It generally boiled down to these three reasons:
- I don't know how to eat healthy
- I don't have time to eat healthy
- It's too expensive to eat healthy
For me... at first - I thought these were just excuses... but I realized that most of my clients were telling me the SAME THINGS...
These weren't just "excuses"... these were the REASONS that people weren't eating well!
So I came to a simple conclusion: If people say "I Don't have time, it's too expensive and I don't know how" to eat healthy...
Then... isn't the solution simply to make: Fast, Healthy, Affordable Food?
Knowing what I did about medicine, I knew Lisinopril, Crestor and Metformin would never CURE these issues... only manage the symptoms... essentially, we had created a nation of customers 😡
So I stopped my med school apps... I left my job and started a Food Prep company with the goal in mind to SOLVE that problem.
Unfortunately... I was NOT a Business Major... aaaaand after the first year... I pretty much did everything wrong 😞
I expanded too fast, diversified too much, business partners, investors - pretty much ALL THE WRONG THINGS!
In the end... it cost me $250,000, my business and I almost lost my House and Car... I got divorced too - unrelated but within 6 months of the business closing.
Let's just say... 2018 was a rough year.
Since then, I have worked tirelessly for SEVEN YEARS - two jobs, 80 hours a week, to repay that debt and have a chance to do it again.
So why am I making this post? Why am I sharing this with you today?
Because I am able to share a project with you, that I have been working on over the summer!
I have finished the Design and somehow managed to launch my website for the "Fundraising" phase of our "Re-Launch"!!!
My first attempt: "Food Prep Service Roanoke" failed...
But this time, I truly believe "Build A Bowl" will succeed. I learned a lot from my failures. I learned what NOT to do. I learned that not everyone has your best interests at heart.
It cost me Seven Years of my life... and I won't screw up Twice.
If you believe in a Healthier Future for America and beyond... if you believe Healthy, Affordable, Fast food SHOULD be available for everyone... then you just might be a "Bowliever".
