Like many I’ve been thinking about Hive again. Not the next bull run is going to save everything version of Hive or the we’re early narrative anymore. I’m talking about the version you see when you zoom out both on the chart and in the community.
If you’ve been around long enough, you start to notice something. The energy isn’t gone, but it’s definitely different. I think I've written about this is past bear markets, but there is a part nobody really wants to say out loud that's been weighing on me. Hive has not collapse, but it has bled out slowly right in front of our eyes. You can see it in the activity. You can feel it in the engagement. You can definitely see it in the price action.
Pull up the chart and it tells the same story the platform does. Lower highs, weak bounces, no real sustained momentum and every rally gets sold. That’s not bullish behavior. Hive has basically been stuck in a long-term downtrend structure since the last real cycle peak. Technically, right now Hive feels like it’s sitting in that awkward zone as it's not cheap enough to spark real accumulation, not strong enough to attract momentum traders and not growing fast enough to bring in new users. So what do you get? Stagnation.
That same stagnation shows up in the platform itself. The chart and the community are mirroring each other. It’s a feedback loop and unless something fundamentally shifts, that loop doesn’t just fix itself.
My friend @bozz had an interesting post that sparked this one. So what does “life after Hive” actually mean? For most people, it means they quietly stop posting. They don’t make a big exit post. They don’t rage quit. They just fade out.Maybe they move to other platforms. Maybe they stop writing altogether. Maybe they just get tired of forcing content into a system that isn’t giving much back anymore. Honestly, that’s a rational response.
I keep asking myself what does that look like for me? I talk about stagnation yet I'm still here. Not because I think Hive is about to explode.Not because I’m expecting some miracle reversal, but because Hive still does something most platforms don’t. It's an outlet to be creative where I own my content. I'm increasingly frustrated by the proliferation of the algorithms curating my every move. Telling me which friends posts to see or what to think. Hive still has that advantage and it still matters to me. The mistake is treating Hive like it’s still in a growth phase. It’s not, it's a platform with a core group of users that need to support each other through tough times. It's that combination of dedication and freedom that makes this place great. So drop in on old friends leave a comment, re blog and lets bring this place back to life one post at a time! I'll be here until the lights get turned off.
I won't be leaving the ship until it sinks totally! All other coins are doing bad, even btc... I think it's more likely crypto will be over than just hive
Cryptos in general? That's a pretty bold statement. There have been long bears before, and our last bull was not that long ago. So I don't share this feeling. Hive on the other hand... well, we'll see. But as long as it's here, so am I, and it's good to see I'm not the only one.
I actually sold a lot of my crypto for stocks. Hive and BTC are my last big holdings. I stay here platform and act like my money is gone.
Yeah, I discovered crypto in mid 2017. Within 2 years I realized that BTC was the only good crypto worth getting into. Except for Hive, but that's more because of the blogging part.
Very true the whole space has been hurt. The clarity act was just another way for this Admin to drain value from us. I had such high hopes but us old frogs know how to deal with disappointment. Tag a few folks still posting I'd love to make some new friends! Best friends are made when you are in the trenches together.
In Europe the mica regulation killed lot of exchanges too... I had some hopes crypto-wise with Trump, but not even that went well...

Great thoughts and I definitely agree with your sentiments. Even I feel less enthusiastic about engaging these days, which is really sad for me.
Totally the same for me too! I've been noticing this around my 1000th post, about three years ago. I'm still here though, and I don't see myself going away either.

HIVE is definitely in a sad state. And probably not coming out of it anytime soon.
it's like the multiple states of loss. Right now we are in the self actualization phase. I realize this and I'm trying to embrace it.
This post sums up my own whole Hive experience. And yes, I have noticed the fading away in my own posting activity, as well as that of others. Sure, many great hiveans have disappeared, making me wonder why, or where they are active these days, if at all. But it's true: "Hive is an outlet to be creative where I own my content." So that's why I am still here.
One thing that tends to re-ignite my enthusiasm occasionally, are new projects, at least as long as they keep working out. Only a couple of days ago (I was on a bike trip over the last six weeks, so I barely came online) I discovered Rafiki Auto Vote, after not not having had one for a long time. But now it seems like it's not working. Or, there is this new way of posting film reviews (and books, music, etc.), but I still need to get my head around it.
But I totally agree: Let's keep supporting each other for the original purpose we are here!
Re-igniting the enthusiasm for the community is important. I hate that is aligned with the price of Hive. I have been trying to think of ways to help out. The only thing I have been able to come up is a creator supporting creator initiative. What I mean by that is if you have a friend or someone you always support drop their name and each of us can head over and start a conversation.
Right, quality over quantity. It's actually not a bad idea to do some house cleaning among the accounts I follow. Most of them are inactive, meaning they haven't posted in a year or more. That revised following list should also reflect to others who I am in contact with.

I have the same sentiments as everybody. At first, this platform was my outlet for expressing myself. I've always been a frustrated writer for as long as i can remember. When I found out about Hive, it felt like some sort of answered prayer. What sustained me was the rewards. There's no denying to that. Now that Hive, as you said is "stagnant", the urge to write suddenly isn't there anymore. Or maybe it'll come back.

I ran this through Gemini just this week and it confirmed what we've all known since day 1. On-boarding is a nightmare and retention is a joke. No typical FB or X user is going to give up the ease of use and simplicity of web 2 to come over here and play cyber-hero with 4 different 10 million character keys to keep up with and talk about little more than markets no one else has ever really cared about. The only reason I keep coming back is because of the ownership aspect and anyone can clearly see the general public is happy to build on the property of others, knowing it could all be torn down for nothing over nothing. People will burn fuckers at the stake to avoid personal responsibility and accountability. We aren't selling anything anyone wants.
