Hello everyone :)!!
Today is my 1 year anniversary since I joined Hive and officially started my whole crypto journey here; all thanks to @ssekulji.
(I caught some virus and have been feeling really weak but I’m better now and managed to write this😁)
It’s been an incredible year with a bit of everything (yes, even some drama lol. Friendly reminder: don’t trust everything you read online people😜). I want to start by saying how thankful I am for all the opportunities Hive has given me, from going to Rally Sardinia and Conf3rence in Dortmund, to being part of amazing projects, meeting new people, and making friends who support me. I honestly feel grateful and blessed to be part of this community❤️.
When I first started, my posts didn’t do too well and to be honest, that hasn’t changed much😂. I know it’s normal when you’re just starting out, but sometimes it made me wonder what I was doing wrong that I couldn’t get more interactions.
My last post, for example, is sitting at just a few cents. And sure, I totally understand. Posts about music, rally, or other things outside crypto that do not benefit the community aren’t worthy of upvotes. But some people post the same and get attention still because they’re “popular” and “big”. But still, when you put effort into writing about what you love and it ends up forgotten at the bottom of the ocean, it can feel demotivating. (And yes, I’ll admit, I cried over it a few times and didn’t have the mental strength to proceed further🥲).
To be clear: it’s not about the money(!!!!) I post on Instagram for free lol. But come on, 30–40 bot votes😆? I’ve tried all the advice people give: “interact more, follow others, do this, do that.” And I do interact, I do follow… but often it doesn’t come back the same way.
Still, there are some amazing big accounts who interact with everyone they come across and I have massive respect for that. It gives me hope that Hive is not only about who is “trending” or who has the biggest stake, but also about genuine connections❤️.
I’m also very thankful for each follower, each upvote, each comment, and even that one reblog I always get lol. And a special thank you to @tenkminnows for always having minnows’ backs😎. Without that little spark of support, I think many of us new people would feel invisible.
Despite the ups and downs, it’s been a wonderful year. Hive has been so much more than just a blogging platform for me. It’s been a way to learn, to push myself, to write more than I ever did before, and to be part of something global.
I’ve had the chance to be part of amazing projects I’ll never forget like standing next to a rally car (although that’s nothing new to me😆) while talking to strangers about decentralization, or explaining what Hive is to someone who came up just because they liked the stickers we handed out. These little moments make me proud because they show how creative and different this community is.
And in some ways, I think I left my little mark on Hive too through my posts, my stories, and even the times when I wrote about things that didn’t get much attention. It all adds up to my Hive journey, and that’s something no one can take away :).
Here’s to many more years on Hive!!!! More friendships, connections, projects and unexpected adventures. I hope I’ll grow more here, learn more, and maybe inspire someone who feels the same way I did when I started out.

It is unacceptable that you have been downvoted on your anniversary by someone who is frustrated because of low price of Hive atm. So I appologise in the name of Hive 'cos I invited you to Hive in the first place. Not your guilt.
Lmao it’s not your fault. A warning could’ve been issued before the downvote. I don’t gaf about money on here thank god everything is public and can be seen have I cashed out these rewards or not
We can hide behind an anonymous account and be dickheads to everyone we want. I thankfully had the guts to defend myself and was met with a tone deaf response
What is unacceptable is perhaps this. Now I can write a post or two about it and have a discussion. Or I can forget about it.

She is just a young girl and very offended with what happened yesterday on her anniversary. Nothing else. We must have in mind that welfare of Hive should be on the first place for all of us. And I am SO VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE CHANCE I GOT FROM HIVE! Cheers!
I understand she is a kid and her reaction is expected. I haven't taken any offense. I am quite certain she will get over it and I strongly believe that is the in fact good for her.

Every information is public on Hive just like the picture you sent. You can easily find all information on my cashing out which is sososoooooooo rare and like I said before it’s been done without any malicious intent purely to learn how does that part work too because I came with 0 knowledge on crypto.
And every single one of those has been brought back to Hive. Because I don’t come here to profit off it. Sure I got liquid Hive which I either powered up or put into hbd savings.
I came here with the anniversary post to GET ADVICE, to get some feedback. Because I appreciate the community and what they give. And I care about their opinion. Literally no one is diminishing what the community does, we all want the best for Hive. But you came and painted me like some thief instead of issuing a warning first and asking nicely to knock it off. I’m not a hard person to get along with. I listen to everyone and take everyone’s advice and so I would’ve done the same if you came in that manner. Because that’s how people learn, by explaining it to them, and not threatening them out of the blue. Lordbutterfly would surely also be nice enough to explain that it’s bad to use reward app and then “punish”. I know him too so?
What I’m not okay with is you threatening me. That is the only reason I’m pissed off still. If you apologize, I’ll apologize too and continue with my life. I already said I’ll stop using reward app what else? Maybe y’all should do a post for newcomers we onboard explaining them do’s and don’t’s

Again nothing happened to you. It is a difficult world out there and not everyone will be as easy. No ones asks you to give you upvote why would anyone warn you to downvote?
There is no difference between upvotes and downvotes other than a sign convention. Neither one is personal (until it is). In fact if you care for hive, you want it to be personal. Otherwise it is just auto-vote which is 95% of the time as you wrote in your post.
If you want engagement then this is what you want. In fact this post of yours has the highest engagement in the history of your posting. Now tell me is that a good thing or bad? I say it is a good thing.
There is no such thing called "bad publicity", there is only publicity. In a rally car world isn't that what you want? Otherwise no publicity no money. No money no driving. This is just marketing.

The app is not bad, and Acidyo did a good job here, as he is the mind behind it. He is a good one on the chain.
We need user retention, users that love Hive and interact on it, what you are also doing.

not about reward app but had prior drama with this user and her fiancé the rally guy who kept upvoting any and every comment of hers and when i asked them not to do it that way she basically stopped commenting
Congrats on a year. I know the rally car funding gets some criticism, but it could be valuable. I was lucky to have a ride in it at Hivefest.
I saw you got some downvotes and that seems to be down to using reward.app. People have strong opinions about that and there are no rules on downvotes as this is the wild west where anything goes. I would not take it personally and it's not worth getting into arguments about it. Ideally everyone should build up their HP, but I know some really need the money.
Getting votes and support can be hard, but Hive really is tiny and people will focus on what they like. If we could build up the rallying community then you could get more engagement.
I run tenkminnows and try to support those who are putting out good content. I really want them to power up their rewards or we will not get more minnows. You are almost there.
Hive should be fun and it is up to us to make it that way as well as building the community.

If anyone had told me that it’s not ideal to use reward app I wouldn’t do it you know? I took your advice before and I’d surely take advice from other people. I wasn’t cashing out and even if I did it was purely to learn that part too but I always brought these rewards back on here.
What I’m bothered by was simply a threat that it will be my last year on here if I don’t stop using it. Not one person will take a threat like that and accept it. Instead of a nice explanation I was met with a downvote and that part also wasn’t okay. All of us should be decent human beings and take a minute of our time to explain some things to those that aren’t familiar with it right?
Regardless, I’m still very thankful for all the upvotes and the community for accepting me :)!
Some people can be very blunt, but nobody can stop you posting here. I've seen too many people get into feuds that just run on and it's not healthy. If you don't need the funds then I would just take HP rewards and build up your vote value. Then you can do more to help others. I have powered down before to pay for things, but that should not be penalised.

I know people turn to hive, steem and other blogs that pay for additional earnings and I get it but some I guess don’t. But I think we all want the best for Hive in the long run.

You have a varied and interesting blog and it's great that you want to build your account through writing and connecting with people.
Although it's you're account and you're perfectly free to do what you want with your earnings, you'll find a lot of people tend to grow by stake with their earnings. Withdrawing, especially 100% of your rewards all the time is seen by many as coming to Hive for the rewards only. Many may be less inclined to support these accounts, after all, what is the point of supporting some one when they have no skin in the game. .
We all want to grow on Hive, or rather for Hive to grow, and it works a lot better when there are more people who do it together instead of just looking themselves.

Ah using reward app I suppose is what’s bad? In all honesty without using that I got 0 upvotes so I decided to use it without any malicious intent of withdrawing the rewards😭
I do it rarely (tbh lolz I used to it a lot because I wanted to learn that part too since I had 0 knowledge), but almost all the time I get them back on here. But I get that view too. But there’s also accounts that make a living from here too and I can’t blame them for doing that.

There are people who need to rely on Hive for daily living, and that's an unfortunate situation to be in. There are also some don't appreciate how Hive helps them, or just treat Hive as a milking machine, where they come to collect earnings every day with low effort content. That's what has put many curators off and not wanting to support these users
As I said, you have good content, but unfortunately got lumped in with the wrong group. I hope you won't be deterred by Hive. It takes a while to learn and understand things but with some determination, you will get there. Please keep up the good work.
Well this downvote that I got definitely did put me off because I don’t think I deserved it without any warning. I was super sick (which is besides the point) and still managed to write this post to celebrate this year on here and to get some input which I did get from you, and I appreciate it a lot.

Sorry but that’s not ok. A warning THEN a downvote should be given. Because it’s not written anywhere, I wasn’t familiar with it being bad. This genuinely looks like there’s no room for people to learn without serving their punishment beforehand.
