Who was most influential in crypto this year? Hive's on Coindesk's longlist!

Sorry if you already heard this a week ago: Coindesk is asking our input for their top 10 of most influential crypto people in 2020. And one unusual option is the Hive community.

The deadline for the poll is tomorrow. Vote for yourself!

Besides Hive, I voted for three DeFi personalities and the MicroStrategy guy. If you ask me for an objective opinion, DeFi and businesses investing in BTC were the big cryptocurrency stories of this year.

I also recommended Bitcoin Core lead maintainer Wladimir van der Laan, who deserves more recognition for keeping Bitcoin on track despite being distracted by bikeshedding. For this reason, Monero named its latest upgrade Oxygen Orion after his alias orionwl.

To be honest, Monero didn't have big news this year, just growing adoption and gradual improvements, using advanced cryptography to make verification more efficient and to make the propagation of new transactions before mining more private. For next year, we can look forward to atomic swaps between Bitcoin and Monero, a way to exchange coins directly between both blockchains.
