EXODE makes progress - and checks player feedback on an interesting decision

in #hive4 years ago (edited)

Yesterday we released a number of critical features, such as stepping up as HIVE account creator for EXODE, and allowing keychains on our website.

EXODE is making progress every day.

But let's not sit on this progress. It is a great time to look and guarantee the big picture.

One of the main issues: We are approaching our first price increase milestone whereas people only just got onboard. Many people have questions about this; let's address this situation immediately.

We open our first strategic meeting and community vote today.
It should usually be a monthly thing, but we'll do it on a by-need basis.

For those who do not know, EXODE is a space colonization game coming to HIVE, already available on presale. You can see more information about it on many places on the hivespace, like on this post or on this video.

The Step by Step approach

These five steps are the real thing:

STEP 1. Presale launch.
STEP 2. Market Launch.
STEP 3. Playable game - the Evacuation scene.
STEP 4. Playable game - Colony Management.
STEP 5. We expand: like with a Steam client.

Sorry for the big bold section.
So far it is looking good on the 5-step plan.

Once all five steps are done and released, we can continue expanding several other ways too (a roleplaying game, a kickstarter for beta collection, whatever comes from inspiration from EXODE and it's thrilling story!).

But let's not miss the objectives.

The roadmap is much more detailed than these five steps.

It sets up deadlines for feature releases and price increases.
It defines "a stop" of supplies being released by EXODE (when this point comes: packs from alpha collection can only be purchased from players).

Updated roadmap, still keeping Market live ~10 days after launch, and other dates kept as is.

My objective with this roadmap was to favor one thing:
that people who would have purchased additional packs to resell could be able to make some profit early.

Come to think of it, there are three types of EXODE Space Captains:
(and I appreciate all three categories)

  1. People who purchase 'entry packs' at 5 or 10 USD and are waiting for more.

  2. People who purchased entry packs but have understood enough of EXODE to expand their game options. They are strengthening their options thanks to Contracts, Support Ships, Robot Crew, Boosters, all being great and valuable options to receive more rewards.

  3. People who purchase more than what they can use; and plan to resell the extra.

A price increase favors only the "third type", the ones who would like to resell.

But it undermines severely the two other categories (1 and 2), as they have to purchase quick (before the price increase), free resources in all emergency to enter EXODE (taking a hit from price fluctuation), or to have less assets for the same price.

So far our people belong to categories (1) and (2) (with a lot people on 2). Many Captains have already upgraded their collection or are interested in doing it but could use more information, like strategy guides, gameplay previews, etc (these are coming).

I am not interested on placing a quick price increase and hindering the status of our current playerbase.

A price increase should happen once we have several people on type (3), like people who purchased some Syndicate Contracts because they know they could sell some and make big profit in a few weeks/months.

Therefore, I am proposing a community vote on our Discord about a date for our price increases.

Understanding this situation, the dates proposed for our first price increase are:

A. April 15th.
B. April 20th.
C. Once Evacuation is released as a playable game.
D. 3 days after Evacuation has become playable (giving enough time for "last time" people to come in).

Once price increase happens, entry packs will increase price (at 8 USD) and some contracts will gain big value (Syndicate moves to 120 USD), while other assets would have a slight increase of about 25 %.

These assets belong to YOU ; this part of EXODE is "valuation" and for everything related to valuation I like to actively check the community position and give very special efforts.

That is the reason why I publish this post today!

Thank you for your opinion pilots!
I'll get back to programming our market and game, and will look forward to our results! :-)

To vote, you can head to our Discord in our exode-polls section. To discuss your vote, you can use the exode-polls-discussion channel. We like to use Discord for this because we use it for player feedback.

Thanks for the news. It's very nice that the development team is interested in other people's opinions. Thanks to the bitter experience of STEEM, I learned a very important lesson: "The core value of any social project is the people who are involved in it." Because of this, I vote for the last 4th option. This will give pilots extra time to tell the world about EXODE

I agree. I was probably going to vote for option 2 because 20th is far enough for me to stock up once or twice, but after having read your reasoning, I agree I should be thinking about others more.

It's a very good idea! I think the comunity will vote for C, because they want to see more content. This will put a little "presure" on you and all will benefit from the situation.

I understand your reasoning about the price increments.

I fall into the category 2, obviously :)

So, I agree that the price increases should be done in line with the purchases and not stick to some preset dates. Or set these days as max values...

Thanks for all your effort.

Fully upvoted and reblogged.

Ps: is there an #exodegame Hive community already? What about other social platforms like Twitter, for example. I would love to mention you there.
