RE: I just had a thought... 🤔

Having the reward locked for 1 year is an extremely long period for crypto. It's like an equivalent of a century elsewhere.

Most newbies would be discouraged from opening accounts, and these who don't want to invest first will be repulsed - they will have zero curation rewards, and zero chance to earn for that year.

Thanks for the feedback...

I will just add... the 1 year was an "option" not a mandatory value.

The idea relies on "can we make curation period flexible"

Then most people will still stick to the current model I guess. Browsing old content is extremely user-unfriendly, and you will hardly get any extra votes more than that week since publishing the post anyway.

I disagree...

For me the long term has use cases, that on #hive are not being contemplated.

Guides, documentaries... etc... just look at youtube use case. I have a video with 200k views because people keep finding it interesting over years...

YT lets you find any video of any age easily. Can you simply access your 2019 posts without googling the exact title here on Hive?

Front ends would have to adapt to that in the first place.

Yes, lots might need changing... I am trying to understand the value long term... short term things never going to evolve if we just restrict thoughts about it.

I can find those videos though... but I agree it depends on skills...

Its how you present that would matter. But eventually the ultimate reason is to modify the base rule option.

So yes... adaptation needed everywhere...

Crypto short term lacks vs web2 too also... so that's a weakness. And overwhelming this would drive a lot of users from those platforms to a crypto platform that can allow that too.
