Hive: I'm Like a Kid in a Candy Store!

in #hive5 months ago

As I have been getting back into writing, I have been keeping a list of all of the things I want to write about. That list keeps growing. One reason is that I think of new things to put on that list. The other reason is that things, that I want to express myself about, happen every day so I don't always take anything off of that list. I swear I am like a kid in a candy store!

And that is one of the amazing things about Hive. This is a platform where you can literally write about anything you want. In fact, if I wanted to go on a rant about people (like me) misusing the term "literally" I could do that here. Whether you are using hive as a diary, journal, therapist, a way to make others laugh, a way to teach about a topic, a way to rant about sports, or as a way to steer people toward or away from entertainment choices, Hive provides the platform for you to do it. I swear I am like a kid in a candy store!

What has sparked this epiphany? Today on my post about the Thunderbolts* movie (it was even better watching it a second time today) I received this comment from @ryivhm "If you haven't posted in communities such the Movies and TV Shows would you consider it? :)". Of course I would consider it! I LOVE writing about movies and TV shows. I think my family loves it even more than I do.

I have this problem where I get very passionate about the content I consume. When I hate something, I walk allover the house ranting how bad it was and how I wish I had my time back. I think it is even worse when I love something. I think about all the cool things about it non-stop. Since I have ADHD, I'm not really good at keeping those thoughts only in my head. I have to spew them all over my house. Who ever is in teh room with me gets to hear exactly why the movie brought me so much joy. Today after the movie, I was going off about how awesome it was in the car and my daughter said "You're ruining it! You don't have to analyze every minute of it. Just say you like it!" Well "I LIKED IT!" Thank you Hive for giving me a place where I can get those thoughts and feelings out one time... so my family doesn't have to hear them 1 million times!

And that is not the only thing that I obsessed about and need to express. With my OCD, I obsess about a lot. Sometimes, I just don't even know where to start. Today I was thinking "What do I want to be? What is my niche on Hive? There are just too many choices!" . What a terrible problem to have. Hive provides an embarrassment of riches where I don't have to choose just one niche. I can be as eclectic as I want to be. I just need to find the right communities to post the right topics in.

No! I said A Kid in a Candy Store... Not a kid in a candy factory. As we all know, you only have a 20% chance to make it out alive if you are a kid in a candy factory.

So here is the interactive part. I need some advice. What communities do you suggest? Is there anything special I need to do to "qualify" for a community? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to posting in a certain community? Are there specific requirements? Here's the list of things I like to write about:

  • Movies and TV shows (obviously)
  • Geeky stuff like games, comic books, toys and conventions
  • Teaching
  • Sports
  • Humor
  • Positivity
  • Family
  • Life lessons
  • Board Games
  • Concerts
Sort:

• I also use literally way 2 much.. English isn’t my first language so I have a feeling this word conveys my feelings the best🤣

• When I joined here I felt THE SAME!! So many things you can write about. I love rally a lot so I usually write about that, if I travel I use worldmappin. If something cool is happening in your life you should write about that under Daily Posts! But sure Movies & TV seems like a fantastic idea!

I enjoyed your post a lot :)!

I find community participation to be a bit hit-and-miss. I've followed a lot, and if what I want to write seems to be a good fit for a community, I may post to it instead of just my general blog, but I'm really bad at remembering to go back to those communities to browse for content. Most communities will list their rules for posting.

This post is like a warm hug for us ADHD/OCD creatives 🧠💡 Hive being this judgment-free space where we can just write is honestly such a gift.

we all have something of kids inside
