We are pretty much constantly adding features to communities (eg: https://peakd.com/dev/@howo/changes-coming-to-a-community-near-you-). What would you like to see ?
"I also tried to ban people who are spamming my new community but it isn't working." => What do you mean ? If you set their roles to muted, their posts shouldn't appear.
Can we at least setup communities so people can't post in the comments if we do not want them to? => This actually exists ! It's called community type 2 or 3,
Type 2 allows anyone to comment but only members can posts, in type 3 only members can post or comment, see: https://peakd.com/hive/@howo/communities-is-getting-an-update--what-to-expect

Context - “Crypto” is a weird place so I’ve grown to be cautious. (I don’t think HIVE is crypto in a traditional sense but that’s a very different topic).

Ok I see where my confusion was. People can still post, they just get muted. I think my issue is better solved by front ends rather than me advocating for people literally not to be able to post.

Even when muted these particular accounts create a bad UX. I mostly use PeakD so maybe I just need to talk to someone over there.

Yeah I see what you mean, I've surfaced the issue to the front end teams, apparently there's already a thing in place that hides muted comments on peakd it's just that it is tuned to 15 muted comments, so there's just not enough, they have updated it to lower the barrier: https://beta.peakd.com/hive-143901/@hurtlocker/the-beginning-tradfi-on-hive#@hurtlocker/re-angeluxx-t7wpil
