As my project begins to ramp up. I’ve already had the opportunity to have good conversations with interesting people. I have also had some pretty terrible conversations but this will happen in the battle place of ideas.
My ideas are not better than yours because I have more HP, in most cases, people with less money than me have a lot to teach me, and I’m willing to learn.
Rich people tend to not be very interesting. Money is a double edged sword, life is easier with money, I’m not going to deny that. People die because they are “poor” and don’t have enough resources to get the care they need. This is a tragedy. But money creates other problems, which is why the story of a successful business man, who can’t take it anymore, and just sells everything and buys a humble plot of land is not uncommon. It’s not common but it does happen, and frankly, that’s pretty interesting. How much money do you need to realize time is scarce and time is extremely valuable? Some people never figure it out. Some people don’t care. And some people work their ass off, live stressful lives, never see their family, and they die emotionally alone.
What do you want from life? What do I want from life? I don’t know. That’s part of life, I’m still figuring it out.
When people don’t like a downvote, and their go to reaction is they need the money because they are poor, it looks like a scam. This is the internet, and no one really knows who anyone is. Maybe someone does need the HIVE that bad. Maybe they are buying bread and it will keep them from starving?
But HIVE is an investment, not a charity. We can run charity through the DHF as a community. But having unchecked upvote charity seems strange.
I do not agree with the idea, that because someone says they are poor or because someone gets mad, that makes their opinion more valid.
The opposite is true. When someone says these things, it is an appeal to emotion. It is fallacious reasoning, and in some sense, even if they are genuine, it’s a scam.
There is a reason Mr Skull has been transformed into a business account and hurt-locker will be my new personal account going forward.
I am setting it up this way because I want to always be a Hivian, but I cannot commit to holding the stack I have currently acquired forever.
I bought this much HIVE because it makes sense to me right now.
I am a contrarian investor and like to buy when people are losing their shit.
When everyone is freaking out, missiles are flying, there’s a global pandemic, or any other event, these are the times I buy.
I am a very emotional person on a personal level but not emotional when it comes to investing.
I’m not a day trader or a momentum trader.
When people are scared, I buy what I can.
And when I think I find a winner, I put my finger on the buy button until my finger bleeds.
What I am doing might seem crazy. Maybe I am crazy? But even if I’m crazy, I am functional and I try my best to be a good person. And that does matter.
As people continue to look at me and try to figure out what I’m doing.
I can honestly tell you, I don’t know what the plan is, there is no master plan.
I am not a normal person. I do not think like other people. I would not wish the way I think on anyone. My mind has brought me great fortune but boy it can be exhausting yee-ha!
There is no master plan, only options. I maximize my options and I pivot. And if I have to pivot myself into a hole, all the way to zero, I’ll do it and I’m not worried about. I will have no regrets because I tried my best.
I have a strong opinion and an investment thesis. And I’m willing to bet on it. If you think I’m dumb or stupid, then you just don’t know me but I would like to get to know you. Let’s have a good conversation.
If you have more HP than me and I’m stepping on your toes. Just let me know, I'll be around, and I will show you deference. I apologize for wasting your time.
Those with more HP deserve my respect because like me, they are willing to put their money where their mouth is.

You have a high post frequency and a KE of 24.20.
In any case, I post once a day, in some rare cases I can make twice. There are days I don't post. Many times too I go around, read and comment on others' contents

Inflation doesn’t happen until a post is paid.
High KE is bad. I only downvoted 1 post. 🤷♂️
You benefit more from the ecosystem, if you are a part of the ecosystem. Getting likes on posts is an opportunity to stake hive and join that ecosystem.
When someone has a KE as high as you, generally speaking, it's kind of a bummer for the rest of us.
Is that a problem? I interact with the community according to the community rules; I interact with other members. I participated in contests that are interesting to me. And the vote weight I receive is proportional to what the community thinks I deserve. So, why should my rewards be removed?
Your losing me
When you downvote a post with no rewards and the account has higher rep than you, you have burned your downvote to no gain.
Your downvote only affects lower rep accounts, in the proportion that it has been downvoted.
Zeroing rewards does not impact reputation, only when the balance goes below zero.
There is something to gain in expressing my opinion though 🙂
The truth is a downvotes will always feel somehow to the person getting it especially when they are not sure why they are being downvoted but that’s one interesting thing about hive. We can’t tell people to either stop upvoting or downvoting us. We just hope we attract more of upvotes as that’s what builds our reputation here.
I remember I once got a downvote on my post and when I asked why, I was told it was because I got too much upvotes on that particular post and some other posts. Personally, I felt it was a bit unfair because I have seen people who don’t even invest as much as I do on hive that gets more upvotes and never for once got any downvotes. But then, I remember that we all are in control of who we want to upvote or downvote.
Downvotes are there to be used. But I hope there will be a sort of laid down guidelines for using it. I feel most people use it because they have the power to not really to help people do better.
I think that download abuse can be mitigated by revamping the reputation system. I made one suggestion a while ago for a system that I think would be a better system and also provide some recourse for victims of downvote abuse while also honoring the benefits of staking.
At some point I would like to put together guidelines based on a conglomeration of what people said here and have said about downvotes in the past.
We really don't need to reinvent the wheel here but we just have to realize there will never be a consensus.
And if someone uses their downvote outside of those guidelines there’s really not much we can do about it.
You’re absolutely right. The truth is, except those that vote (positive or negative) decide which they want, I don’t even think that anyone can influence their decision.
Personally, I expect the worse and just keep hoping for the best. Everyone has their reasons for whatever choice they make and we can only try the persuade them a little but in the end, they are the ones to still call the shots.
If a downvote is done for the right purpose and the person giving the downvote has a solid reason then it is his right. But some whales downvote without any reason. This makes me very sad. They dont know that making one post takes 2 hours or even more time. Image design is the most difficult work for me. I personally make it in Canva which takes me half an hour.

Obviously, it hurts. When there is no reason for a downvote, it hurts. I would be happy if I could understand my mistake, what is the reason for the downvotes. If I understand it then surely I will not repeat the same mistake again.
I'm guessing in your case it has to do with your KE ratio.

But your KE is high enough that a post set to get a lot of rewards is more likely to get downvoted by someone with a lot of HIVE.

Personally? It looks like spam to me and I hit the dislike button.
But also, anyone who does what you are doing will get downvoted eventually by other people who are not me.
What's this spam about? That I walk several thousand steps every day on Actifit because I care about my health? That it describes nature and my travels?
To me it it looks like spam but other people will dislike the post too because you post over 2 times a day and have a KE of 70+ and your content is very repetitive.
Unfortunately, what you're writing is untrue. If you were to review my recent posts, there are days when I don't post anything. I could easily create five accounts and post on all of them, but I won't do that. I write as long as I have time and topics to write about.

Unfortunately, Actifit counts a large number of steps taken daily. If I worked out at the gym, would I have to post a picture of the treadmill every day? I can't help it if I walk almost the same route every day.
i think, as in everything, we need to have boundaries. The same applies to downvotes. In my opinion, it is a tool that will help keep a balance when people are trying to take advantage of Hive and its people, like vote for vote, plagiarism, AI content, fake giveaways, rugs and the list goes on.
Especially nowadays, when we are only a few active people around here, we need to both support the creators if ofc we like their content and at the same time try to maintain that balance, because especially at times where we have a lack of activity or high activity is where most scammers lie.
Now if someone uses his HP to simply downvote whatever he doesn't like just becuase, even though he can do it and nothing can be done if other whales don't step it, the end result will be more and more people to lose interested in Hive, meaning loss for him long-term as well.

I just don’t even agree with the premise that voting (up or down) based on the content you like is bad.
In my mind, that’s what social media is for.
Most people do the opposite. People write things they don’t care about so it will be curated and they can sell the rewards.
I think that’s probably how we got to this point.
The difference is the money factor. The way Hive is built hp has value and power. if i hold a lot of HP means i can do whatever i want and a lot of times at the expense of other people and Hive's ecosystem. It's quite different to get, let's say a dislike on Facebook and on a post here, leading to losing all of my rewards or part of it.
It's one thing to not like what someone posts and even commenting about it but even then for example you have to be polite. It's a whole other thing to "cut" a source of income for someone if you don't like his post just before you have the power to do so. Those in power need to protect those who don't have.
I won't read a post someone made about his chicken or farm, i don't like that kind of posts because it's not related to my interests. That doesn't mean i won't respect his effort and go downvote him. The goal is for everyone to feel comfortable posting whatever they want (having some boundaries) and not fear who might downvote them just because. Ofc i am not referring to abusers.

I hate the down vote. Not enough to switch to BLURT but still enough. I believe the only time a down vote is warranted is for plagiarism

I personally think a downvote should be a way I can share an opinion quickly. I do not have nuke all of the rewards of a post when I share an opinion.
The reward pool is not free, we pay for it with inflation.
I hate downvotes because they are demoralizing. They make a mf'er think why should I even bother. Plus most downvotes are either A) retaliation or B) just because you don't "approve" of the content. Example, I post mostly cannabis content.. there are people who disapprove of cannabis so therefore they feel the need to DV me without considering what I bring to the blockchain. The same can be said for my MoTD.. yes I know they are offensive af.. they're supposed to be.. they're jokes.. but I do understand DV them... I post a lot of dark and disrespectful memes that hurt snowflakes "feelings" but I post them on Snaps where they belong. Now plagiarism is a whole different Oprah show.. bombs away mother fuckers.. they deserve a DV.. I'm not particularly fond of the "Great post" spam comments.. and yes maybe they deserve a DV.. but I rarely do it. I have forgotten the last person I DV'ed..
I see people on Hive downvoting a penny from Someone in some country where a penny is a lot of money… for no reason at all.
