Inkito Update - Accessibility & Bookmarks

Good morning Hive people,

Here is a new update with my latest progress with Inkito.

You can read more about the Inkito project in the Hive proposal in which I explain all of it.

What is Inkito ?

Inkito is a new platform based on the Hive blockchain build specifically for the long form episodic content like comics or novels. It makes the reading experience better with an infinite loop and organises content as series throughout the site.

So what have I accomplished this week?

  • Advertising

I continued my quest of finding active users for Inkito. I displayed my ads through ComicAd, and ad biding service for webcomics. I had the most clicks from a webcomic bookmark site called piperka.

I have sent the request for an ad on Topwebcomics, one of the big players in the webcomic ecosystem. I'll let you know when the ad is up.

  • Accessibility

I have worked on making the site accessible.
- All links can now be accessed with the tab button.
- All alternate text are up to date.
- Contrasts are over the standard 7:1 ratio.

  • Bookmarks
A feature that was absolutely needed are bookmarks.
Readers would want to pick up their story where you left off especially on longer ones like Shades Of Men for example. Now your current reading page is stored in the local storage and is pull out when you visit again.

Here is how it shows in the storage. It's an array of objects with the series id and the current page. It updates everytime you change pages.

So after all this. What is next?
Don't worry, there's always something! I'm already working on the next best thing. A user library displaying all series from followed authors.

I'll also be working on making sure the home page scales well. Displaying content with lazy load and having a pagination system.

With these two upcoming features, I feel that the minimal viable product would have reached a new stage, and we can finally enter the beta version!

Looking forward to reach that point!

For any interested Hive creator out there!

You can already add your content to the platform using the right tags.

Adding the series id on all corresponding posts, writing it as follows "author-seriesname" (example: "jrej-shadesofmen") The series name is for you to choose but must be the same for all episodes.

Adding the tag "inkito-comics" or "inkito-novels" on your most recent post for ranking.

Optionally you can add categories as tags in your first episode. The categories could be any of the following. "action, comedy, drama, fantasy, horror, mystery, romance, scifi, sliceoflife"

The first post would include some of the main series info. The first image would be your series cover image and the title, the series title. Hope to see some of you over there.

Thanks for your reading this blog and for your support.

You can now check out the alpha version of Inkito at www.inkito.io
Now is your time to shine. Please share your thoughts on how this can be improved! Let's give stories a place to thrive in the Hive ecosystem!

See you on the other side.

Jrej
