Getting Back To Reality.

Where are we?

We are where we were prior to the sale of the US company called Steemit Inc.

But now we don't have Steemit inc.

We have a public decision making process that is coded into the chain.
The “proposal system” as many know it, originally referred to as “SPS” then named officially as the DAO and now on Hive the official name is Decentralized Hive Fund and all proposals submitted are exclusively approved with votes from all community members who decide to vote.

So everything that goes on is decided upon by the community as far as development, project support and anything else that people feel is worth proposing for building a better future on Hive.

I think that answers the bulk of the questions being thrown around by many people on “HOW?”

What about the governance?

The governance is still decided upon by everyone, via voting.
So the process is the same. You vote for witnesses and they represent you!
I guess that is one way of looking at it, but no matter how it is presented, we all hold the governance accountable with our witness votes.

If we like or dislike agree or disagree, support or not support something for whatever reasons any one of us may have as individuals, we express it via our witness votes.

One issue that was mentioned many a time is the fact that the witness votes were mirrored over from a crazy time in which everyone was voting for 30ish people so as to counter the corruption and collusion that was affecting Steem.

Yes. That is potentially an issue. Only if we take the stance:

“I did my bit to help, I don’t care about what happens from here forwards, they got my vote.”

Hive, like any endeavour out there is a living thing! It encompasses many aspects of real life issues that are important to all of us. Everything from coding, to economics, to legislation, to communities.

Everything done on Hive affects real people.
Daily.

So there is a responsibility to make sure we are all in the loop and that we do not allow for a centralization of power on Hive.
This is again, up to all of us to ensure.

HOW?
With your witness votes.

Simply make sure that nobody has outright power, do your best to ensure that each and every witness can be held accountable via your witness votes. Don’t allow for a situation in which any person in a decision making position becomes “untouchable”.

HOW?
Use your witness votes to do it.

The theory of “your vote can’t make a difference” has been debunked. Your vote contributed to the stand against a mega millionaire who was out to take control and centralize the chain. Your vote COUNTED BIG TIME!
& STILL DOES.

CONCLUSION:

The future of Hive is in the hands of all of us PEOPLE.
No matter who or where we are in this world.

It is literally up to each and every one of us to ensure Hive does not become “another Steem”.

our good man @quochuy is literally working overtime to make hive.blog everything it should be as far as transparency, user friendliness and promoting direct community participation.

PS. Keeping track of the dApps too will be made available up there, so that everyone knows what all is out there on Hive.

again, hats off to our fellow man @quochuy .

People like him are literally going above and beyond to make sure we don't go down the same path that Steem went!

;)

Well said! I will update my votes right away although I don’t think much will change and my stake is worthless at the moment.

That aspect of transparency and the dencentralization makes me fall in love with hive much more
