A few years ago I had the chance to participate in several projects in which I was able to involve groups of students, since then things have evolved a little, but the principle remains the same, almost every month I receive students in distance learning and sometimes as today I travel to meet them thanks to local partners who allow me to take care of this.
Today I am finally back in Vienna, one of my favorite cities.

The stops
tip for travelers from Brussels to Vienna: on Wednesday night the night train is great, very few people, you'll have plenty of room, you can even stretch the benches into a berth which is a luxury when you're in a cabin.
Meetings on the train
For what I remember, when I entered the train I was alone in the cabin, I hoped for a moment that it would stay like that, but the arrival of a first neighbor at the Gare du Nord, made me happy despite everything because it's still nicer to meet people. This one was with a young student who just finished his master and who wants to go to study in Barcelona. He was passing through Brussels to meet his girlfriend who had made the detour from Holland for the occasion of a business trip for a European project (Horizon Europe).

The arrival
With the delay at the beginning of the journey and the long stop in Aachen, we arrived at least one hour late. Fortunately for my fellow traveler he was able to reach his teacher and colleagues so we were able to smoke one last cigarette before we each went on our way.
Paul's welcome
As usual Paul is always an exceptional and attentive host. It's very reassuring to be able to count on his help when I'm passing through, without it the stay wouldn't be so simple and so full of adventures.
Thursday
While calling one of my best friends (John) I meet in the Vienna streetcar a Man of a certain age who I greet and who will say "Bonne chance" in perfect French while leaving his seat at the next stop.
Once we arrived, I waited for Samuel because I didn't know where to find us inside this big building.
As soon as Samuel arrived we went inside to discuss and finalize the administration, the students arrived shortly after. The meeting between Samuel and the students took place in the Sofitel building, more precisely in Wexelerate which is located on the ground floor and on the second floor of the building.

The meeting with the students and with Samuel the local organizer was done at Wexecerate, it's the first time I went there, the working space is amazing, it's very big and it's very quiet, to be recommended if you are looking for a place to work for a few hours near the center in the same building as Sofitel (So/Vienna).
The briefing and debriefing with Samuel was very quick, so I could interview the students taking a maximum of time for each of them, it's a privilege when it's a small group, you can dedicate a little more time to it.
After seeing the work of the group I decide to give them a new task in 3d to model a showroom for one of our clients. I am very curious about the result we will get!

Monday: Second group
The second group is composed of two sub-groups, the first one is in digital technologies and the second one is studying smart technologies. On Monday after Peter's session who is the intermediary with the organization that sends the students and makes his introduction pitch, it was my turn.
We went again on the development of the showroom editor, indeed we want to see who will do the best modeling and find the best technique to generate maps from a reference document. I am very curious to see the result.
Arthur's birthday party at Stephane's house
For the second time Paul invited me to the tea party of Arthur, one of his good friends from the gay the Vienne scene. It was an extraordinary evening and place, the first time I went there the weather was nice which was not the case yesterday, this allowed us to enjoy the interior which immerses us in a real other world. Between meetings and reunions we stayed until the last minute before sharing the cab with another guest.
The key to success
The key to success is indeed the consistency in what we do, it opens doors as it can close them, but by dint of it, we will get there, it's just that by becoming an adult we lose the notion of failure and we no longer always see it as an opportunity to bounce back, but this is where we must pick ourselves up and continue, if on the one hand the doors close often other doors open but for that we must often stop staring at the door we know.
It is not always what you show or what you see that makes you successful. Sometimes it's just getting out of your comfort zone and confronting something else.
Salut, au cas ou tu ne me connaitrais pas encore je suis Jean, un gars un peu atypique qui est né à l'île Maurice et qui a été adopté et grandi à Waterloo en Belgique. Aujourd'hui je suis un nomade du digital comme on peut en trouver de plus en plus.

Il y a quelques années déjà j'ai eu la chance de participer à plusieurs projets dans lesquels j'ai pu faire intervenir des groupes d'étudiants, depuis les choses ont un peu évoluées, mais le principe reste le même, presque tous les mois je reçois des étudiants en distanciel et parfois comme aujourd'hui je voyage pour les rencontrer grâce a des partenaires locaux qui me permettent de prendre cela en charge.
Aujourd'hui je suis enfin de retour à Vienne, l'une de mes villes préférées.

conseil pour les voyageurs de Bruxelles vers Vienne : le mercredi soir le train de nuit est génial, très peu de monde, vous aurez plein de place, vous pourrez même étendre les banquettes en couchette ce qui est un luxe quand on est en cabine.

Pour ce dont je me souviens, lorsque je suis entré dans le train j'étais seul dans la cabine, j'ai espéré un moment que ça resterait comme ça, mais l'arrivée d'un premier voisin à la gare du Nord, m'a rendu malgré tout content car c'est quand meme plus chouette de faire des rencontre. Celle là fut avec un jeune étudiant qui vient de finir son master et qui souhaite aller étudier à Barcelone. Il était de passage à Bruxelles pour rencontrer sa petite copine qui avait fait le détour de Hollande pour l'occasion d'un voyage d'affaire pour un projet Européen (Horizon Europe).

Avec le retard pris en début de trajet et le long arrêt à Aachen, nous sommes au moins arrivé avec une heure de retard. Heureusement pour mon compagnon de route il a pu joindre son professeur et ses collègues et nous avons donc pu fumer une dernière cigarette avant de chacun reprendre notre chemin.
L'accueil de Paul
Comme à son habitude Paul est toujours un hôte exceptionnel et attentif. C'est très rassurant de pouvoir compter sur son aide quand je suis de passage, sans cela le séjour ne serait pas si simple et si rempli d'aventures.

Alors que j'appelais l'un de mes meilleurs amis (John) je fais la rencontre dans le tram de Vienne d'un Homme d'un certain age que je salue et qui me dira "Bonne chance" dans un français parfait en quittant sa place au prochain arrêt.
une fois arrivé, j'ai attendu Samuel car j n'étais pas au courant d'ou nous retrouver à l'intérieur de ce grand bâtiment.
Dès que Samuel est arrivé nous sommes entrer pour discuter et finaliser l'administration, les étudiants sont arrivés peu de temps après. La rencontre de Samuel et des étudiants c'est fait dans le bâtiment du Sofitel, plus précisément à Wexelerate qui se trouve au rez-de chaussé et au premier étage du bâtiment.

La rencontre avec les étudiants et avec Samuel l'organisateur local c'est fait à Wexecerate, c'est la première fois que j'y allais, l'espace de travail est hallucinant, c'est très grand et il y fait très calme, à recommander si vous chercher un lieu ou travailler quelques heures près du centre dans le même bâtiment que le Sofitel (So/Vienna).
Le briefing et debrief avec Samuel a été très rapide, j'ai donc pu faire une interview des étudiants en prenant un maximum de temps pour chacun d'eux, c'est un privilège lorsque c'est un petit groupe, on peut s'y consacré un peu plus.
Après avoir vu le travail du groupe je décide de leur fournir une nouvelle tâche en 3d pour modéliser un showroom pour l'un de nos cliens. Je suis très curieux du résultat que nous obtiendrons!

Lundi : Second groupe
le second groupe est composé de deux sous groupes, le premier est en technologies digitales et le second étudie les technologies intelligentes. Lundi après la session de Peter qui est l'intermédiaire avec l'organisation qui envoi les étudiants et fait son pitch d'introduction, ça a été à mon tour.
Nous sommes à nouveau parti sur le développement de l'éditeur de showroom, effectivement nous souhaitons voir qui fera la meilleur modélisation et trouvera la meilleur technique de génération de cartes depuis un document de référence. Je suis très curieux de voir le résultat.
L'anniversaire d'Arthur chez Stephane
Pour la second fois Paul m'a convié à la tea party de Arthur, l'un de ses bons amis de la scène gay the Vienne. Ce fut une soirée et un lieu extraordinaire, la première fois que j'y ai été il faisait beau ce qui n'était pas le cas hier, cela nous a permis de profiter de l'intérieur qui nous plonge dans un véritable autre monde. ENtre les rencontres et les retrouvailles nous sommes resté jsuqu'à la dernière minute avant de partager le taxi avec une autre convive.
La clef du succès
La clef de la réussite, c'est effectivement la consistance dans ce que l'on fait, ça ouvre les portes comme ça peut les refermer, mais à force, on y arrivera, c'est juste qu'en étant devenu adulte l'on perd la notion de l'échec et on ne la voit plus toujours comme une opportunité de rebondir, mais c'est là où l'on doit se reprendre et continuer, si d'un coté les portes se referment souvent d'autres portes s'ouvre mais pour cela il faut souvent arrêter de fixer la porte qui nous est connue.
Ce n'est pas toujours ce que l'on montre ni ce que l'on voit qui fait le succès. Parfois c'est simplement de sortir de sa zone de confort et se confronter à autre chose.
