I'm not here to cause an issue. I'm just trying to promote Hive to my million viewers a month.
The vast vast vast percent of the Hive community is amazing and they've been extremely kind and supportive to me.
Lately however, there has been someone by the name @Curangel who for no known reason has been coming to my posts (some of which are about 150 dollars) and downvoting them, sometimes almost all the way to about 3 dollars. They don't say why, they just wreak havoc on my posts for no known reason.
When I look at their posts, they seem like a bot, but clearly someone somewhere is deciding to just arbitrarily downvote half of my posts.
I'm just super frustrated about it. People can do whatever they want, but what kind of dick comes along and loses a person 100 dollars, or 75 dollars and leaves without an explanation? No matter how many people upvote the posts, this douche will downvote it to near zero.
Hive is pretty much my only income and it's hard for me to promote the site to people as a great alternative when whales censor people and rip them off for whatever money they make. What can be done about this in a decentralized manner? Who is this person? How can it be stopped? It's just insanity. It's not 5 dollars, it's 50 to 100. I feel like some nameless douche is just coming along and stealing money from my wallet.
Any ideas?
Thanks everyone! Keep up the great work! I appreciate this community, but I also want to make it better and this is impeding my ability to both make it better AND bring in new people, which in turn is hurting Hive.

Devil’s Advocate wonders if the combination of “my million viewers a month” and “Hive is pretty much my only income” might be a hint about something.
On Hive, nothing is yours until it’s actually in your wallet. You may feel that downvoting is stealing (and you’d not be the only person who feels that way), but that’s just not how it works.
I understand your frustration, however you are not being censored or losing anything. With respect, I suggest you take some more time to really understand how this blockchain works before making claims of censorship and things of that nature. Nothing can be censored on the HIVE blockchain. Although it is possible for 3rd party websites to hide posts from their front ends, your posts will always be on chain and no one can change that. Everyone has the right to like or dislike content on HIVE in order to allocate funds from the reward pool as they see fit including yourself. You should not be afraid to downvote something if you think those funds should go back to the reward pool. This is your right as a stakeholder in the HIVE network. The strength of your vote is based on the stake you hold in the network. The value of your posts are likely to fluctuate as more accounts engage with your posts.
My advice is to focus on creating quality content, staying consistent and don't think so much about rewards.
With all due respect, no. If countless people all chip in money and the post goes to 150 dollars and some asshole who happens to have a huge amount of money comes along and just downvotes it to zero, that's a problem whether you want to admit that it is or not.
This is a fundamental flaw in the Hive community. People close their eyes to the whales because most people want to get upvoted by them.
When I was on YouTube, I was censored by ultra rich assholes who had way too much power.
Now, here, my posts are dramatically demonetized by ultra rich assholes who have way too much power.
If a big corporation wants to buy a ton of Hive, put it into Hive Power and downvote every anti establishment post, rekking all creators who post on here, that will forever destroy Hive. People seem super short sited about this.
This one rich person has more pull than a couple hundred other people who disagree with him. The difference is that those people who support me don't have as much money as him.
Today, I once again watched my work which includes exclusive interviews with big names go from 50, 60, 80 dollars down to 3 or 4 dollars. Why? Some rich asshole doesn't like the politics. Great. Glad they have so much control over everything here and the community stands behind it.
Yes. It is censorship. Encouraging it will be the downfall of this site.
That's not what's happening here.
Copy pasting comments (like you did above) is bad form on Hive.
Take the time to actually engage with what people with much more experience on Hive tell you.
You are both saying the same thing. I'm not going to write it two different ways in my response.
You must understand that downvotes are not stealing your money because it’s not yours. Only at the end of the 7 day voting period are rewards allocated from the blockchain based on the total of up and down votes over this period.
I expect that some people feel your content is being rewarded more than it’s worth so they are trying to cut your rewards to a more reasonable level.
This is a healthy part of the curation process.
There is a lot of amazing content on Hive that earns only a few cents or a few dollars.
You should be happy that your content is still earning very well even after the downvotes.

Rewards paid out after 7 days represent the consensus view of the entire Hive community and you are quite wrong to ascribe your downvotes to "ultra rich assholes" or even "whales".
@curangel is not a whale and is not even a single person but represents large number of Hive users who have delegated Hive power to it for the purpose of curation. The vast majority of its Hive Power is delegated.
It is not rich at all and its power is simply the aggregation of the power of its numerous delegators.
Censorship and reward calculations are completely different things. There is no censorship on Hive - all content is viewable on the blockchain.
There IS curation and content promotion and moderation by a large number of people, all with different Hive Power stakes.
You are clearly new to Hive and don't understand how it works. I suggest you spend more time learning before your start throwing round baseless accusations.
Behave modestly, learn how things work, build connections and treat Hive like any new human community that you'd like to be part of and you will do well.
Behave in an ignorant, arrogant, self-entitled way with no respect for the rules of the community and you will find yourself in the same position as if you did this in any human community to which you are a newcomer.
Well thats why I hate all this curation account and community nonsense. Curangel says they are a curating account. I dont know why they want to have you off the platform especially with no warning given.
I am political person as well and while I dont consume a lot of your content, I would hate to see you go. So I will ask @manniman: Why are you downvoting Josh?
Let me explain.
Does that make sense? Downvotes are generally disagreement of rewards and not personal at all.
For example; this post of yours is just a question, 293 words, no real content. Do I think it is valued at $19? No.
Do you?
..
My neighbor drives a Ferrari; so I must drive one.....
I have seen that guy is stealing; so I must do so.....
You don't have to agree with me on any points. Please feel free to exercise your free will.
My tomorrow is looking excellent and will continue to look excellent; thank you very much :)
Josh, start posting from https://www.proofofbrain.io/ you will get extra rewards in POB token https://hive-engine.com/?p=market&t=POB
They've got a discord link at the bottom of their posts. Maybe try there to at least get an answer.
I see this sort of issue only getting worse as popularity grows with this blockchain and big companies creat accounts. There's nothing really stopping anyone with enough money from buying a bunch of HP and demonetizing anything they didn't like; if this place ever became a big enough threat.
Seems like the Hive infrastructure is extremely flawed.
Well it was done to solve an issue with lots of bots before, and it did stop that, but it could definitely use some tinkering.
Downvotes have been a pretty heated debate for a while, so Until we find the right solution, we just got to talk it out. Definitely try their discord.
I personally want to see a lot more independent journalists such as yourself here, so I do not support these downvotes by @curangel
Thanks, see some of the responses I posted to other here. It is very frustrating that so many can't see that it is indeed censorship when 200 people say they like content and some rich guy can come along and just because he has more money, he can downvote it all the way to zero, undoing what the 200 other people are doing.
"It's the way it works! It's not censorship!" people scream. Well, I mean, it is. Blatantly.
Perception of content value really differs from every users. Many will be generous enough to give you 100 upvote value, while a few acts as equalizer to give a downvote. Old issue, yes. It is annoying but surely there are some benefits or the least have some “balancing effect” on the value of the blockchain. @preparedwombat is correct that it is “not to assume early” that what you are seeing on payout value is the one that will you receive at the end of the 7 days.
Not stop and make more posts, this downvoting not going to stop you. I have seen them also lot and I did not stop.
Can you show any proofs that you are promoting hive ?
