I might be late with this info a few days but i found the reaction by the crypto community so hilarious in this instance that i have to chime in.
Anything you see on HIVE is 100 times amplified in the wider crypto space. When ever someone is popular people start salivating over them because who doesnt want to be associated with a celebrity, maybe get them to like and retweet.
So once JK Rowling wrote her tweet about wanting someone to explain Bitcoin, all hell broke loose.
Everyone that is anyone showed up on her tweet to share some "wisdom" and ofc share with her some Bitcoin maximalist nonsense.
1 tweet later the altcoiners arrived to shill their own projects.
You had HEX shills, and ADA shills and even TRX shills coming in to share with Rowling the brilliance of their projects.
Im absolutely positive they succeeded.😂
Look...
Just because Rowling is a billionaire doesnt mean she is about to put her money into a highly speculative asset. She isnt someone that will buy hoping for riches or wants to "stick it to the gvrnmt".
See, while everyone is so hung up on "inflation bad" , "fiat bad" they forget one important thing. The power of the nation is behind the value of fiat currency.
In the case of the US dollar the power of the most powerful and most developed nation in the world is behind it.
And ill tell you right now, people like J.K Rowling that are as wealthy as she is, that are middle aged and might not adopt new tech as fast as younger folks, is not about to put trust in a unregulated, volatile asset and 5 mining pools somewhere in China over the safety banks and governments might provide.
If you have to first convince someone in your ideology for them to find value in your token, then your token is useless no matter its market cap.
You dont have to believe in the same thing i do to find value in #HIVE
The moment when she tweeted, I knew it was a trap.
Then, crypto Twitter fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
It was pretty hilarious and cringy to read the twitter thread!
When altcoiners came in its when it got real fun. lol.
Richard Heart with his "HEX is programmable money!"😂
Did you see where she wrote: I don't trust this.
I don't blame her, it pretty much sums up the whole thing at the moment. It must have sounded like a million scams coming straight to her twitter feed... Moon this, moon that... Get rich... Blah blah...
The twitter thread is hilarious 😂 what a reaction!
The only thing backing the value of the US dollar is a collective belief it will be worth the same amount the next day, the military power and the hell they can exert on "hostile" countries both through military and economic measures. With the latter being in some cases far more devastating and effective in destroying a country from the inside by devaluing its national currency - think Venezuela.
You are right about JK. Being as wealthy and as far down the life road, she has zero interest in understanding or utilizing the value proposition of bitcoin, crypto in general or blockchain for that matter.
Although dinosaurs such as herself and the likes of Buffet and Schiff will never get it - in some cases intentionally as it directly opposes their world-view - all PR is good PR, especially when it's free and coming from highly influential people with massive followings.
The entire industry will benefit from it.
...and the size of their economy and the size of their buyers market and the military and their influence. All of it and many more things i forgot to mention.
Saying that doesnt have value is simply not true.
The same belief applies to Bitcoin or any crypto for that matter. Because of its features you believe Bitcoin has value.
Sure but its not really that position of hers thats unexpected that would warrant articles and opinions being thrown around, its the reaction by the community thats funny.
