Does the above chart look bullish to you? You shouldn't say yes. It is the inverted HIVE/USDT chart. Up bad, down good. Just a fun little chart. Just sharing the data.
Anyway, to the main point. It's 4 AM and I can't sleep so I'll release my next product:
(Reader discretion is advised: the following content contains material maybe not so sweet)
Rant 1.0
Hyperliquid. When I first heard about Hyperliquid and what it is and how it works, I immediately bought HYPE tokens. I'm not an investor but it tingled my investment side of the brain. You don't need to be a wizard to understand a good business model. You don't need to explain it for too long for me to understand why to be bullish on this token and project.
A decentralized exchange supporting both spot and futures trading with fast transactions and very low fees. You get trading fee discounts by staking the HYPE token and AFAIK some of the fee generated goes back to the token.
Why the hell am I talking about Hyperliquid? I'm just providing an example of a good business model that tingles your brain and makes you invest in a project. I'm not even going to share my referral code.
Does Hive has anything remotely close to a good business model? Of course it would be impossible to compete with Hyperliquid but I'm not asking for something that high level. Does our current model make you bullish enough for you to go and buy HIVE? This has been a discussion for years dating back to the steem days. Some attempts were made like promoting posts by burning tokens but didn't take off. There were other suggestions like burning tokens for an ad spot on steemit.com. I don't remember anything else TBH. And as you can guess, nothing was done.
You can't have no appealing business model and come here with a Pikachu surprise face when you become just another droplet in the ocean of the Altcoin market.

Why Rant 1.0:
A lot of the discussion has been around Value Plan and DHF. I'm ranting to let you know there is a lot more to the story than just Value Plan or DHF. I'm not defending that shit though. Burn it with fire.
Now let me fork here real quick to another rant. Rant about our marketing which is disconnected from the real blockchain and stuck somewhere god knows where. Somewhere somehow we decided to not talk about the rewards. It became almost a taboo to say you can post on Hive and get paid for it. We instead switched to advertising as an ecosystem of DApps and how great it would be for you to build your DApp on Hive. I take a great issue with this approach. Why would someone not build their app on a super computer (like ETH, Arbitrum, Solana, etc) and decide to build on a calculator? What does Hive has other than a custom_json? You couldn't even retrieve the jsons broadcasted by their ids. DApps like Hyperliquid need strong smart contract infrastructure alongside fifty other things to work. Let me make something clear. I'm not criticizing Hive's infrastructure here. I'm criticizing our marketing. Instead of marketing what we have, which is our social media and rewarding system (features that onboarded majority of the people here), we decided to market what we don't have.
Or let me tell you how we say "we have a great community". Community in the crypto world means telegram group. That is how meme coins advertise. We tried to not sound like a ponzi scheme and became even worse.
Why am I ranting about marketing? Because we have spent a lot of money on it, supposedly. Somehow making a tweet and promoting that tweet is forbidden but going to Ghana and digging boreholes there is acceptable. I'm not even gonna talk about the rally car and how some people say it CAN be a good idea. Or how we spent $200,000 on a street workout event. A social media platform, an entirely online product, not marketing on the internet and instead going to places where people probably don't even have internet to google what Hive is.
You should capture terminally online degenerates. Doge coin millionaires. You think these people go to a street workout or got to watch a rally race? We are not Apple to pull publicity stunts. We are in the trenches of coinmarketcap fighting for survival. We didn't even have a twitter check mark for a very long time and we got it recently thanks to Crimsonclad. We still can not enable server discovery on our Discord server because someone is lazy.
I guess this did become partially about Value Plan. But the main point was and is, to understand our strengths and use those. Don't pretend we are something that we are not. We don't need to be morally superior to others in this space. Why can't we post memes and shit post here? It's a crypto space ffs. It took us 5 years to get snaps/waves/leothreads because short content=bad. Let more people come in and milk the system. That was the whole idea. Distributing the tokens to a lot of people. Not to a handful people.
Price
The sun is already up so I guess this version of the rant took a long time to cook. Let me comment on the price of HIVE. Before the hive fork, IIRC steem was priced at 10 cents. I wouldn't call the 2017 price a realistic price. That 10 cents was probably closer to the realistic price. Now HIVE is 12 cents and it awoken something in people hence the recent discussions or actions. I'm not saying this is the fair price of HIVE. I'm just putting into the context of where we have come from. This price is indeed low and it is part of the bear market. I think we will probably go even lower. Of course, market doesn't care what I think but I'm trying to give you a bit of courage to not lose your shit when that day comes.
Is there light at the end of the tunnel? You might see a huge green candle shining there. The chart I posted above should make you feel a little better or worse depending on the indicator you use.
Please understand this is just a rant. Take it with a lot of salt. Midnight thoughts that might not be even real or connect to each other. And I feel like I should clarify I don't hate Hive. I like it.
Love you all. (Why did I type this? I'm not gonna remove it as a lesson for myself. I was gonna remove and type I hate you all instead.)
BTW, unrelated to this topic, you are pushing me to top 20 in witness list. You know, I hate working. Forcing me to work like this should be against the Geneva Conventions. Just saying so you don't commit a war crime.
I blew my rant load responding to acid first, so there's that. Otherwise the
beatingsabusive votes for you to top twenty will continue until morale improves! As you point out, sometimes, we can just do things, even though it also sometimes feels like being stabbed with hot pokers and you have to go full doxx and put your personal credit card down and ask forgiveness later. There are so many different people pushing, and I think even when we're all frothing about in the bloody markets rightfully being constructively critical of everyone else's approach, I love that there's this feedback model here where we can publicly air the grievances and also pump each others tires, or at least check our lists of agrees and disagrees against each other. Sometimes we do both. Sometimes the people who have worked so quietly and hard in the background doing what matters most finally human all over our human blockchain. It's a right of passage, so hell yeah, thanks for joining in on the slightly deranged/emotionally charged side, my man. Can't stop, won't stop, and I also have to shout out the beedevs as a continuation of what I was saying to acid in regards to content as an additive selling point, who are making incredible work for the lightest of nodes for mobile for the new year and for the groundwork for light copy paste content calls to embed elsewhere... because that's how people understand social platforms in the context of what we do with content when we want to make it work for us and intermesh across web2. Going after the shitposter databasing that can be pulled into other interfaces is the lowest hanging fruit for helping people understand what Hive social does even beyond the COME HERE AND MAKE THE PENNIES BRO attractant, but now we're in the weeds again and I too have lost the entire plot. I've got a whole backlog of posts this week but I'm pleased that you ranted and now I ranted as a procrastinating device, kthx keep up the good work
I even unvoted myself the other day but I guess there is no escaping.
Thanks for the beating.Nah, nvm. Thanks for the support.PUT IT BACK

If being in the top20 gets you to post more often like this I'm all for it :D
Nice to hear some thoughts/rants at appropriate times!
I've been saying for years now that we should market to other communities that don't have something like Hive and could use it. Even though we're down in the depths price-wise, I can tell you that none of the gods unchained players I invited years ago thought hive was a "waste of time", some of them are still around but naturally there's not enough activity here to maintain them - rewards or not.
This is also a reason we've shifted a lot of our voting power towards spending it on our onboarded users and posh activities. While it's nice to reward those active and putting in effort and time into the chain, there's a lot of stake voting so they're ought to be picked up by other stakeholders over time, but we felt a lack of new users and we decided to do what we can to make their start into this journey as rewarding as possible and see how many stick around and more importantly, how many we can get to join as those can come back later now that they have an account. POSH has also been doing great even though you can't tell if it's actually bringing in new users. We can tell it's bringing traffic to our posts and redditor's don't hate it compared to the shit that gets shared there on a daily basis plastered with ads or hidden behind paywalls.
It'd be nice if more stakeholders cared about what they're rewarding, if the authors they're rewarding care about being consumed and for people to care about the rewards they're earning so they don't just easily get rid of them for some other shitcoins or fiat if they're beaing earned so easily that they think they're worthless or that they can earn them forever.
This is so much of my approach now, but it's an absolute struggle trying to get dapps and quick tools on board--going out to chains and communities and creators and saying, hey look, here's our stack and it does stuff that nothing you have right now is good at. Start adding it in, use it monetize, backup, and solve some of the problems that are too fiddly and expensive to do elsewhere. Use it as your syndication CMS and mint new rewards to people who come and comment on a blog post on your site the don't even realize is Hive attached. Create blockchain based link trees or a series of public hashes and meme calls that are time stamped and flex them on pump later. Build out a public collection of WHATEVER you want that becomes a voluntary id that doesn't require zk obfuscation because it's not carrying sensitive personal data, but rather the pieces of real human activity that represent the opposite of the dead, ai slop, enshittified Internet.
It's possible, but it's hard, and we have a lot (A LOT) of work to do to keep making sure all the good stuff we have is positioned to not actually have to compete with some of the safe/sanctioned high level financial tools that will be the next vector to suck up capital. Just going to keep pushing forward on it and have a giant notebook full of things to do and ways to try to help everyone here get it and all the other things they thing matter done. Now I'm ranting too, THANKS MAHDI 😂. On the plus side, I felt quite glorious and non-ranty when I had enough oomph to vote you over the line last night, even though it flipped again quickly. People better get it together and vote the way I prefer already, geez
I agree with you and support the posh movement. Like we don't need to pretend we are the next ETH. We can provide the social platform for ETH users. Embracing the crypto community is a bit hard I guess for some people here. CT wouldn't survive here. Which is our strongest target audience. Crypto people don't post vlogs of them walking around. They shit post. They not gonna write you an essay or give you quality content. Their top quality post is hentai.
We can have shortform content too, if someone big were to join and enough curators are checking out snaps I don't think people would care if a comment is earning $50 even at these prices if it's vitalik posting for instance.
We have a lot to offer them but we've fallen behind the limelight so much that very few influential people are going to bother to learn more about hive at this stage. It'd be hard to even pay influential people to truly learn hive and wanna work for it at this point.
But it's never too late for hive, we just gotta start doing things that will eventually get us somewhere. Most of the current spending i don't believe has been that.
I think we should do it the other way around. Short content being the main content and having optional articles just like twitter.
Curators don't matter. Vitalik or anyone else doesn't tweet to satisfy a whale or whatever to get a vote. You post for engagement. You post on twitter for money? No. Sometimes you want to have a chance at the engagement machine.
If you post and get no views, why even post? You want eyes. To get eyes you have to open the gates.
Another unrelated version of Rant coming out right now. Recently I saw on telegram the guide wizard provided someone to create an account. I just lost it. I wonder if Ethereum had the same onboarding as we do, would it even take off? Creating an account is insane. This deserved to be in the main post with a lot more rant. Fuck.
Ever since the fork settled down I have had a no top 20 witness votes policy.
You are the first I've voted since then.
Usually I pull votes when folks go over 21.
But,~30k hp is a drop in the bucket.
Congrats on finally getting there.
Now can we kill the zombie voting on hive.vote?
I just added that to my TODO list. Hopefully will be the next thing I do when I'm free.
A big limitation is the lack of smart contracts, that drastically limits what can be created.
Speaking of Pikachu.
They should put people doing this behind the bars. 2 years minimum.
Actually, nevermind. Put them in that suit and do this to them for 10 times.
is it my display settings? or video player is shown bigger on desktop version.
I think it is bigger on a pc
Rant is good. (Hope this is short enough.)
I have been advocating to market on the internet for a very long time, we really need some teaser ads running on web2 platforms.
If I understand that chart, are you saying, we could hit 8$ ?
That $8 you see is the result of $1 being divided by $0.125 (the current price) 1/0.125=8
Reversed charts are good for seeing things with a different perspective. So no the 8 is unrelated. I think it shows we are topping on this chart and will drop down soon i.e. higher prices incoming. I usually don't predict a time but probably next year we go higher prices if we survive the rest of the year with under 10 cents prices.
You'll get to T20 and stay there! HAFSql is too good!
Onboarding and user experience is too shit to get anyone here that isnt driven by a few dollars per post. Thats why the marketing shift was away from it. We only get the third world here almost 100% of time. Theyre willing to deal with bad UX because those few bucks mean so much.
If it was up to me and I ran Peakd, ecency, hiveblog, id completely scrap 90% of what exists on the frontends. Go full short form.
Maybe that would change the user structure a bit. When everyone else wasnt pressured to blog.
No one gives a fuck about blogging.
Hell, I didnt even read this post you made here. Not fully. I havent read a full post in I dont think 2-3 years.
I just read the comment section here and skimmed every second paragraph you wrote to get the full picture.
I agree. I didn't even read your comment.
what did you say?
