RE: I reward commenters with upvotes, do you?

in #hivelast year

Sure...I am always an advocate of engagement, organic engagement, and productive engagement....

social behavior could be complex so as engagement. The problem with blog post is that it is shaped by number of upvotes not by views or actual readers.....so people at large are motivated to post something that could earn something for them..and not interested in writing something that could drive engagement, in the first place incentive is the determinant....u can say that is one draw back of web 3.0....or put another way, you can say it needs a more comprehensive reward algorithm.

You may be right about having a better reward algorithms, although I have to say that what we have is ultimately better than the ones on Web 2.0. At least we are able to directly reward a comment or a post by voting it, or giving tips by using the various bots.

I figure it all counts as engagement, but I still think commenting is always more efficient, even when you don't have voting power or tokens for bots. However, if I can help people make their minds on whether to write and engage by rewarding, I might as well do so. 😀

I do agree with you....whatever we have and wherever we are right now...we should push for more engagement, that will keep on weaving the social network....and ultimately create that network effect.

Definitely!
