Let's talk about curation.
I've been a DJ for well over thirty years. I started promoting and organizing nightlife events well over 2 decades ago. I got into podcasting and blogging about twenty years ago. It wasn't until having moved my online activity largely to the decentralized web that I ever thought to consider myself a curator. Makes sense.
Until a few years ago, most of us utilized social media to keep in touch with friends and family. Now it seems these platforms have replaced TV, magazines, newspapers and even museums, to a great extent. Especially today, at the height of a pandemic, musicians and visual artists have been forced to engage their audiences online.
Bloggers and podcasters have been creating and curating meaningful content and sharing well formatted posts and using different social networking apps to participate in communities and engage members for years now on blockchain blogging platforms and paid content sites. It's one thing to like and share a really cool post which got your attention and merited taking a moment out of the day to have it discovered by your friends and family, it's another to spend the time gathering numerous posts daily or weekly in order to promote them and get them to reach a much larger audience.
What good is social media without engagement? A community is only as strong as its membership and fellowship. Writing, speech, music and art are the glue that binds a community. We all seek attention at some point as human contact and communication is key to our mental and spiritual health. Whether you built a shed in your backyard, learned a new brush stroke while painting a masterpiece, strummed a new lick on the guitar or wrote an indepth well researched article on the sociopolitical goings on in the world, your work deserves to be seen, and that is one of the greatest reasons to blog, post and curate.
New weekly podcast launching next week on @mspwaves.
This time last year I had a very regular serial podcasting schedule and to go along with each weekly show I produced, I also created concurrent blog posts. All the while, I remained active on the blockchain and social media sphere curating, sharing, commenting, upvoting and liking posts as well as participated in numerous live podcasts and daily chats engaging other content creators, podcasters and bloggers.
One podcast in particular was a highlight of every week, Pimp Your Post Thursdays (PYPT), in the Ramble Radio server hosted by the gracious @shadowspub. It was an hour or two where we all got to present our posts and garner support while making new friends and appreciating quality content. I had hoped PYPT would soon make a return to the airwaves. Instead it seems we got blessings from the community and the green light from @mspwaves to launch a new show in much the same vein. It is all explained below.
Post Up is a live curation podcast. Audience members are invited to present a post from any social media platform or blog. The post can be yours or someone else's as long as it contains original meaningful content. Posts can consist of images, words or both. Mature content is acceptable as long as an NSFW warning is provided. The show hosts will encourage audience members to follow, upvote, like and comment. Each week we will ask the audience to select their favorite posts and the top three will receive a prize of cash or crypto. All of the posts presented will be curated for our blog for all to see. Get ready to Post Up!
Please show up in the chat before the start of the show. Once you hear the intro, place the Post Up emoji in the chat and you will be on the queue for the show. Pay attention, when we call your name you will have up to 5 minutes to present a post. Audience members will be asked to give feedback and, if there is time, they will be allowed to ask questions or critique the post.
