Your open source developers should qualify for free github copilot! I get it entirely for free for my Gridcoin/Bitshares contributions, so considering hive projects are also open source on github the devs should qualify (at least the largest contributors).

To be honest, github copilot is utter crap compared to Claude Code (although copilot seems nice until you use something better). This is not speculation: I and many of my devs experimented with both. For a long time they were using Copilot because it was so cheap and we didn't know any better, but once we switched, it didn't take long for everyone to see how much better Claude Code is.
You can use several claude models via copilot, or do you mean the tooling rather than the models themselves? If it's the later then fair enough.. I get on well with copilot chat in vscode using a mix of different models.
