Your friends here at the @rentmoney blog are very much all about the Hive Blockchain. We aren't on any other blogging sites. We aren't using any other blockchain to any meaningful degree. We aren't on any WEB2 social media sites to any serious capacity. We are here on Hive and we don't imagine that is going to change anytime soon. That is not to say we don't sometimes use WEB2 applications to advertise our Hive content or the Hive Blockchain itself, we do. One of those places is Reddit. Now for a little backstory. A couple years back possibly three but not more than we created a reddit account. Shared some of our Hive content and Hive Blockchain happenings and we managed to get 15,000 views in 48 hours time. At the time I had no clue if that was something of the norm or a good number to hit. This prompted me to pay attention to my subsequent reddit posts.
Sure enough I managed to repeat the success a time or two more with mixed results in-between. I determined that this is simply how reddit works and never paid much more attention. It was on a toss away reddit account and that is what happened. I eventually tossed the account away by means of not recording or remembering the password or account name. I come to find out that 15,000 views in 48 hours is somewhat impressive and ever since it got me curious if I can repeat the process yet again. Admittedly I was putting work in to get those views. Now back to present day. I recently been sharing my Splinterland and Arcade Colony posts on Reddit. Mainly on the #splinterlands and #hive communities. Today I review such content and share with you the stats (Views, age of post, ect.) here in this post. I don't expect said posts to reach into the thousands as I didn't put the work in for such but yet I am curious to see if we reached 500+ or possibly even 1000 views. A little more back story information. This curiosity in-part comes from the thought that I just might try to build an outside following or see if I can at least consistently repeat previous results. All with the end goal at pointing views at the Hive Blockchain and my blog posts on the Hive Blockchain. Now that is out of the way lets go over the numbers.
The first numbers are the size of the communities we are posting in. r/hivenetwork is the first community we will look at. On its reddit page we can see the hivenetwork community is getting 89 weekly visitors with 23 weekly contributors. I'm not sure if I'm overlooking it somehow but I don't see where the number of members is displayed. I did ask AI and it told me 2.7 thousand is the number. Creation date: March 17, 2020. The second community we are going to look at here is the r/splinterlands community. On the r/splinteralnds reddit page we can see the splinterlands reddit community is getting 304 weekly visitors with 26 weekly contributors. Once again I had to ask AI for the total members count. Hold tight because this is a shocking number or at least to me it is. That number, over 64,000 profiles have signed up to r/splinterlands. Very impressive but now lets see what that means for views on the content that I have shared at each place. Lets even go one step further and see how that translates to views here on the Hive Blockchain by cross examining my reddit views with front-ends on the Hive Blockchain that have view counters. Not a perfect comparison because some Hive Blockchain front-ends don't have view counters. Regardless that is what we have to work with and work with we will.
Four Recent Hive Post I Shared On Reddit
Hive Blog Link | r/hivenetwork views | r/splinterland views |
---|---|---|
Splinterlands Big Sales Are Still Happening | Not shared | 908 |
Moon Karts: Play2Earn Gaming On The Hive Blockchain | 432 | 207 |
SPS Stake Holders | Not shared | 341 |
A hive based mobile first website | 230 | 78 |
I have shared others but these are the ones that are the most recent so lets analyze them. In total we have four posts featured above. Two have been shared in both the r/hivenetwork community and the r/splinterlands community. The remaining two shared within the r/splinterlands community only. As we can see above the share on r/splinterlands with the most views has a current total of 908 views. The share on r/hivenetwork with the most views has a current total of 432 views within said reddit community. The least amount of views is a post that was shared less than 24hrs ago. That post [A hive based mobile first website] currently has 79 views on r/splinterlands and 230 views on r/hivenetwork. The hive link to each of these posts are in the graph above. Simply click the highlighted link to visit whatever one peaks your interest. I should also note the share with the most amount of views is about nine days old. I suspect all these shares to get more views as time goes on. Now that we got that info in text lets see how that translates to views on the Hive Blockchain front-ends. To do that I have to use the front-ends in-which links I shared on Reddit. Those two front-ends are Hive.Blog and Peakd.com. Unfortunately Hive.Blog does not have a view counter. This narrows us down to the Peakd blog site. An important note is that the Peakd view counter only counts views attained from their front-end and not the total blockchain views of any given post. Meaning views on any post that come from Hive.Blog or other front-ends like Inleo are not counted.
Hive Blog Link | Peakd Views | Reblogs |
---|---|---|
Splinterlands Big Sales Are Still Happening | 50+ | 9 |
Moon Karts: Play2Earn Gaming On The Hive Blockchain | 30+ | 10 |
SPS Stake Holders | 30+ | 4 |
A hive based mobile first website | 10 | 1 |
There we have it but what does it all mean. Are these good numbers? Is it worth it to share on Reddit? I think they are OK but I certainly can improve on them. I would wager that 900+ is likely on the upper end of views a post in either of the communities I listed get. I would also imagine there are some one off posts in each of those communities that smash 900+ views. However that is all just speculation and a small talking point or possibly post filler. What I am interested in is the turnover of views. Meaning what percentages of those views on Reddit made their way to the Hive Blockchain. In business terms how many click-throughs did I manage to get. This is going to be really hard to determine because not all my views on the Hive Blockchain are shown here. The reasoning, as mentioned already, not all front-ends on the Hive blockchain have view counters. Using the numbers we do have from Peakd which are also not exact but instead displayed in whole numbers like 30+ and 50+ we will do our best to give percentages. First the formula. We are going to take the peakd views and round them down. Meaning anything that states 30+ will be rounded down to its whole number of 30. This will give us a lower percentage but at least its a base number that we can work with. We will then use the total reddit views from each displayed community to find the percentage of click-throughs. Lets see how we did.
Hive Blog Link | Click-through percent | Total Views |
---|---|---|
Splinterlands Big Sales Are Still Happening | 5.51% | 908 |
Moon Karts: Play2Earn Gaming On The Hive Blockchain | 4.69% | 669 |
SPS Stake Holders | 8.08% | 371 |
A hive based mobile first website | 3.25% | 308 |
Considerations: the percentages are based on total reddit views not the total views displayed next to the percentage graph above. The total views number represents total views to date from both reddit communities and peakd. These numbers are base level. Meaning the views for each represented post above are undoubtedly higher than displayed in this post. These are just the numbers we have to work with as all views can't be counted. The fourth displayed post [A Hive Based Mobile First Website] is newly shared to reddit which is another important note to make considering the other shares had some days to accumulate views. Notes: lets take the total percentage of the four shared posts to get the mean (what some might call average click-through percent). When we do that we get an average click-through percentage of 5.38%. The equation to get such a number is as follows: Total percentage of all four posts 5.5 + 4.69 + 8.08 + 3.25 = 21.52. We then take the total number (21.52) divide by the number of posts in question (4). This gives us a mean of 5.38. What does all this mean? What is the purpose to share this? I simply thought it would be interesting and valuable to know if our efforts in WEB2 are landing here on WEB3. I also thought if such a thing interest me just maybe it would interest you as well. Next I'm going to run with a post or two and put some real effort into advertising it on Reddit. Not through the way of payment but simply sharing in relevant communities and run the numbers again. I very much believe I can significantly increase these view numbers. Until then, thanks for taking the time to read. We appreciate you spending your time here on the @rentmoney blog. We hope to see you at our next post! PS: yes its worth it to share your Hive content on Reddit, good luck out there :)
What Is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a #play2earn game hosted on the Hive Blockchain. Assets that have real monetary value are used to earn rewards/ more assets in a robust gaming economy. Such assets are tradable on-site or on many different secondary markets such as TribalDex and Hive-Engine. Don't have a Splinterlands account yet. Well you are in luck because I just so happen to have an ambassador code. Clicking it will start the sign up process. What is an ambassadors code? Its a code that will give me credit for your sign up at no cost to you. Here it is: https://splinterlands.com/register?ref=rentmoney Don't want to use my ambassador code (no worries) here is a direct link that will forgo any credit to me: https://splinterlands.com.
What Is The Hive Blockchain?
----------------------> As defined by @rentmoney
It's many things including but not limited to: A source for information. A host spot for many play2earn games. A place to build your own business. A place to run a blog account. A place to interact with your online friends. A place to expand your knowledge. Your imagination is the limit to what the Hive Blockchain has to offer and could be to you. Creating and curating content on the Hive Blockchain will give you the opportunity to earn the Blockchains main currencies known as Hive and HBD (Hive Backed Dollars). No financial advice has been given in this post. Do your own research before investing/ spending any of your hard earned currencies.
