In my time on Steem and then Hive I have managed to make a few enemies. These tend to be people I downvoted for what I considered what abuse of the platform. There is one who still downvotes me after a couple of years, but the damage is insignificant. A more recent addition to my nemesis list is @huaren.news.

You can see that he makes nothing from posts on Hive. He has no significant supporters here and is not self-voting. Also note his very negative reputation and lack of followers.
The picture on Steem is very different.

Not many more followers, but the difference is massive self-voting.

@goodreader and @staryao are also accounts owned by him. There is another @hnt that has not posted so recently. He also buys big votes from tipu and other bots. It seems this is quite acceptable on Steem with a top witness also voting for him. That does not mean he gets many comments. It is all about the money.
He is exploiting delegation leasing services so he has nearly 400k SP delegated to him and 80K HP on Hive. The latter is decreasing has he has been blacklisted.
He created the Steemflag account to complain about being downvoted and to write about the people he has 'flaged' (sic). I was one of the first. Those posts also benefit from paid votes and his own stake. With just 19 followers I doubt the greater Steem community cares.
Buying votes and self-voting seems to be perfectly acceptable on Steem now as nobody is doing anything about it, not even the Steemit-controlled accounts. @huaren.news was taking in thousands of Steem each week from his accounts. He knows he cannot get away with that on Hive.
What he can do is to downvote people with his delegated HP and I seem to be one of the chosen few. All my recent posts are getting nearly fifty downvotes.

@huaren.news seems to control those accounts, but most have insignificant power. Okay, so I took away some of his Steem rewards. I had a downvote trail following me to increase the effect. He has taken far more from my posts. He says he only does it in retaliation, but it would be better to reduce the need for people to hit him in the first place.
Am I upset about all this? I am more concerned by the harm he does to Steem and could do to Hive than about what I might lose. He cannot affect my reputation and it actually tends to go up when he downvotes me as others support me by canceling out his downvotes. Maybe I should thank him for that and be flattered by all the attention. @curangel seems to be the only other account he hits.
He did respond a few times showing off that he was supporting others on Hive, but that just seems like a cynical effort to profit from curation. That will be less effective for him as the delegations dry up. If you lease any HP you may want to check who gets it and if they are doing good or not. Profit is nice, but we really need to be making Hive better to attract and retain new users. I think @huaren.news is one we can afford to lose.
I really hope he sees this. Maybe I will get another reply in Chinese. The quality of discourse is exceptional.

As I said then, I defended Steem more than many and took a lot of grief for doing so. Now it is not worthy of my attention. He only cares about Steem as far as what he can make from it, much like many of the other trending accounts there.
I do care about Hive.
I was cross posting on Hive and Steem, but I have moved to just Hive now. There was some discussion about people not agreeing with the cross posting and rather than jeopardize the integrity of my account on Hive I figured it would be best to stop. I have recently started just curating on Steem. Not even great content, it is purely for profit. That chain has lost any respect I had for it, so now I simply use it as a means to an end.
I am not totally against cross-posting, but there seems little point posting on Steem for engagement even though you can profit by buying votes. If I see someone milking Steem then I am less likely to support them on Hive.
I was cross posting, but I feel that time has now passed. I tried appics for a while, but that too seems to have passed. I'm just waiting to liquidate my final stake and be done with Steem. It's a graveyard right now.
Good move. We just need to tell the world that #SteemIsDead and #HiveIsAlive.
Right on the revolution is upon us!
Good thing I stopped posting there then!
What tool do you use for downvoting trail on steem? I might wanna join
You can use https://hive.vote/
I do not follow trails that I do not control as I want to know where my votes go. I have a fair few people following my downvotes, so I need to use them carefully.
I meant on steem xD
Ah, misread it. Well I think the auto votes there shut down. I think there may be a new one, but what's the betting they don't want downvotes? I am not interested anyway. Steem is dead to me.
No problem.
I just have a delegation someone forgot on steem. I am also powering down and running to hive :D
That Hauren.news character is a bad man. Anyone supporting him at all should be avoided.
I don't even know if his posts have any value, but he doesn't seem to care that much as he would just buy votes for them. You cannot reason with some people.
Just let Steem rot, they deserve it.
Today is the 4th week after the HF, i guess most will be out for good!
I agree, but it's sad to see people profiting from their abuse there. I guess someone is propping up the Steem price as there cannot be many who want to buy it. At least they cannot blame Hive fans for messing it up and most of us have no SP any more.
Profiting abuse is easy since the SP seems to be more concentrated than before. If I wanted to I could probably abuse a 1m delegated account there fairly easily, but we all have limits.
Whoever wants to prop up the price is welcome to do so, it will only benefit us to flog our shitsteem, my limit is a below that 😁
I know of at least one Hive user who was milking Steem, but they are getting downvoted now. Steemit seem to favour Asian users. Maybe they are friends of Justin.
^^^:D
You fought for a noble cause .. please put the energy in ensuring that hive promotes quality content
It's up to us all to do that. Upvoting the good stuff is as important as downvoting the bad.
