The News

I will start, as usual, with the price charts. $HIVE had a little dip, but is back above 40c now. Bitcoin has been doing well lately and that may boost the markets a bit.

Prices

The big news came to me via a tweet by @jeffjagoe. When Justin Sun took over Steemit he persuaded some exchanges to help him out. By getting puppet witnesses in place he was able to compromise the blockchain and steal funds from some of the top community witnesses. Someone managed to divert those funds to @bittrex with hope that they could be returned to the rightful owners, but the exchange opted to do the wrong thing. After three years some of the witnesses have got their money back. Transfers have already been made. This was not everyone as some people prefer to keep their real identity secret.

You can read more about this here and here.

When Hive was forked off I sold all my $STEEM to buy more $HIVE. I am sure there are a fair few people who still have funds there even if they are not using the platform. You can trade them on various exchanges for something more useful. You would also have gained an account on Blurt. It is pretty simple to withdraw from there by transferring to the blurt-swap account with an appropriate memo. That gets you SWAP.BLURT on Hive Engine that you can easily sell. I hope you still have your keys.

Friday Follows

  • Comic trader @blewitt is looking for developers to help him accept crypto on his site. There are already some places we can spend it, but providing easy solutions for ecommerce platforms would really open things up.
  • @kencode has built the @cast.garden podcast platform that is gaining a lot of shows. This is all built around Hive and using technologies such as Podping from @brianoflondon. I finally put out a new episode of my podcast about making music on there this week and it was top of trending for a while.
  • @demotruk has been playing with location data to map Hivers. This is challenging as the metadata really varies in quality.
  • I am featuring people who are developing things around Hive, so I will include @run.vince.run who built the @strava2hive app that can create posts from your activities on Strava. I use this all the time.

These people get a share of the post rewards.

The Doghouse

I quite often see people doing posts that seem more aimed at voting bots than actual human readers. The post these tags are from was about Splinterlands, but you can see they were out to maximise the extra tokens they could get. That is fair enough, but you will make a tiny amount from those. I have used some myself, but I may make just a few cents over a year from some. I found this as I check for use of the #TeamUK tag that is intended to be used by people in or from the UK so they get a small extra vote. This person had used the tag just because they saw others doing so and without checking what it was for.

You should check that the tags you use are relevant. Abusing them may get you downvotes or at least a place on a blacklist. I would suggest using tags that people would look at not to just post for bots.

The End

Tomorrow is Hive Power Up Day, so I hope you have some funds to stake. There are prizes to be won for doing so. I do not qualify for those, but I tend to save some up to get a badge.

Also tomorrow I will be creating a fresh #BritList. I hope to see some improvements in the numbers.

Have a great weekend and Hive five!

The man behind: @tenkminnows: Helping good Hivers level up

@proofofbrian: A bot that checks for tag typos

#BritList: A monthly list of Hivers in the UK

Sort:

Now I get #TeamUK

dickhead here thought it was only for use with posts about the UK. FFs!!

The mapping project is very cool, found myself on there 😀

I'm looking forward to HPUD, I'll have about 3035 HP, making those gains!

I actually heard the news about some of the stolen funds being returned which I'm delighted to hear.

Learning about the history of Hive through all the interviews we conducted was one of the best things I could have done shortly after getting here. Turbulant times, but it's great that there's that bit of closure.

That's a great power up.

Hive has had an interesting story. It's been an experience to have been along for the ride. I know some of the people involved, so it feels personal. I look forward to the documentaries that tell their story.

!BEER

That's one of the things we tried to capture and nail down, because while talking with people, it's obvious that it's personal and while it isn't a fresh wound, it clearly still stings.

Hey @killerwot, here is a little bit of BEER from @steevc for you. Enjoy it!

We love your support by voting @detlev.witness on HIVE .

It was because of Justin sun that the trust that people had was completely lost in the project that everyone has come to hive. And the way we're seeing the Justin sun that so many are running cases on him. If hive canfarm his 40-cents support, we may see a good pump in him in the coming days.

Hello steevc

Where ever I go I found this man, Justin Sun!!
It seems he did wrong in seemit. Who knows, may be he is here in hive also hiding behind another name.

You talked about using tags. I don't know what tags I should use.🤣 I just use what I see to people do. I shall follow what you said.

There are many people developing projects. I was aware about proofofbrain. Other two names you give, was unknown to me.. I'll check them and will vote for being witness.

Good day

Mr Sun is good at publicity, but is not necessarily a good guy. He has various court cases against him.

Tags ought to be useful for finding posts, so you should check what others use, but do not focus just on the tipping bots. You can make much more from human readers.

V4V is easy way to exchange Steem also!
