Years ago I went to a crypto event in London where the old chain had a stand and loads of people from the community turned up so we practically took it over. I think a couple even came over from the Netherlands. In recent years the London community has been less active, but there may still be value in having a presence at such events. Tokenize:LDN was at the Excel exhibition centre in east London and @alessandrawhite and @mcsamm were both speaking there. I was not there to hear @mcsamm yesterday, but I made it along today.

I do not know the details, but some funds were made available for Hive to sponsor an area of the exhibition that featured a coffee bar and hot dog wagon as well as some Hive themed Christmas trees. I think @guiltyparties organised this and they also arranged VIP tickets for some of us, but I was not paid to be there and I paid for all my travel.

My travel was a bit of an adventure as I managed to get on the wrong branch of the Elizabeth Line and so had to take a couple of extra trains. Getting home was another story as there had been an incident that messed up loads of trains (see later).
As I arrived at the venue I bumped into @lordbutterfly and inside I found @alessandrawhite, @bitterirony, @adetorrent, @mcsamm and @collinz. I did not got any photos of everyone, but I know others did and they may do their own posts.
The exhibition was a mix of companies from the finance world plus developers. To be honest it was not that exciting to me, but then I am not their target audience, but I spoke to a few of them and of course I talked about Hive.

I think Alessandra was a little nervous about speaking, but she did really well. It was not a massive audience, but then it was not a huge event and there were several other stages. Her talk covered various aspects of what Hive can do. There was a question afterwards about how development gets funded and I helped field that.
We all spoke to various people there and some I met were quite enthusiastic. I did not create accounts for them, but they can find out about that via the updated hive.io site that @therealwolf has been working on. It has cool real time updates of transactions and blocks.
I do not know how you can measure the value of being at such events, but more people and companies will be aware of Hive now. We really more businesses to have a presence here.
Some of us went for dinner afterwards at the vegan restaurant Mildred's in Canary Wharf. I actually first met Alessandra and Devin in London almost exactly a year ago and we went to another branch of that restaurant then.

It was a fun day with cool people. None of us have massive power on Hive, but we can still represent the community and talk about the positive aspects. If there are relevant events in your area then it could be worth talking to people in the Hive Discord channels to see if can get resources like this.
As I mentioned the trains were a little messed up on the way home, but I did not have it too bad compared to others who may have been waiting around for much longer. I am glad I made the trip.
Hive five!

It was so awesome to have such a well-assembled crew from Hive to make such a strong showing at the event. Having you there on the front row with @mcsamm, @bitterirony, @collinz and @adetorrent made it memorable.
We started out a small crowd, but by the end of my talk almost every seat was taken. It usually works the other way around, doesn’t it? I was stunned!
I hope that if it proves useful to Hive that we have the privilege to do it again. It was amazing how well we all worked so warmly together. #teamuk 🇬🇧
I thought you spoke really well. There is are a lot of technical details to Hive, but we need to let people know what it can do for them. When they get it then they are enthusiastic.

Great post as always. I was gutted not to attend. I tried everything to make it happen, as it was an event I’d really been looking forward to, but ultimately I couldn’t afford to travel with Christmas just around the corner. Hopefully I’ll have some job success soon and won’t have to worry about travel costs anymore.
Lovely photos as always — you capture the memories so well. Looks like the overall event was a good success, hopefully new users come onto Hive and believe in it.
I will keep an eye out for future events/meetups as i am excited to one day attend one.
I really hope you can get to something. It does not always have to be in London as people are scattered around.

Great to see @alessandrawhite on stage in LDN - Love to be with all of you the next time for some talks and Hive motivation.
At this times, it is so important to go out and spread the word about Hive. Did you met any businesses to have them use Hive. May I ask the @lordbutterfly
It would be awesome to tackle another event with you and the Hive Crew, @detlev.
I’ll feature a few of the great convos I had at Tokenize:LDN in my upcoming post when rest & travel catch up.
I'm so glad you didn't get stranded in London. It was nice seeing you again. Hopefully we will organise something in the new year 🙌
Thanks for sharing your experience! Looking forward to more pictures from the event - I hope there are some of similar quality that I added to the community section of hive.io.
I am sure @alessandrawhite and @adetorrent have some good photos of the show that could go on the Hive site. The branding was very visible there anyway.
Have you also tokenized Christmas? Don't tell Santa! ;)
I didn't see Santa, but I did suggest someone could have been dressed as an elf. All the cool kids want tokens for Xmas :)
Wasn't it an E(th)lf? ;)
I always wonder if it's worth it... If I'm not wrong dhf paid either 10 or 20k for this event, was it worth the expense? With 0 onboards?
We do need a presence at such events to get noticed, but I will leave it to others to work out the value. I think some connections were made.
The new website is amazing! That's something we really needed to onboard new people easily.
I can't wait to come to London one day, possibly when it's warmer (I hate cold weather and rain 😅). When I do, you'll be the first to know ✌️
It's not the best weather right now, but I hope we can meet up some time.

A great event indeed, and maybe the time to think about hosting such an event again?

Any time Hivers get together cool things happen. Some of these had not met before. I always say that a meetup just needs a time and location, so anyone could set one up.
Good to know, and maybe we will also have one like that someday.
Greetings friend, thank you for sharing this experience. I'm glad there are events that showcase how wonderful and valuable Hive is. I don't have much voting power either, but I still want to encourage others to discover Hive. It's a slow and steady process, but consistency is key. Congratulations on your experience!
Each of us can represent Hive in some way.
I think events like these play a vital role in reconnecting with the community and highlighting what Hive can provide ;)

Did you know that @stresskiller is also a witness now ?
Sounds like you had a really good time. Hopefully the HIVE news spreads.
We did what we could. Some of us just turned up to show support.
