Looking for musicians to contribute to my podcast

in #hive9 months ago (edited)

Some of you may have heard my podcast It's Not About The Gear that is now on @cast.garden. I started this years ago, but have been erratic in producing episodes. I do have some plans for it, but time is a limiting factor. Getting some contributions helps me build a more entertaining show that is not just me rabbiting on.

Podcast

I was listening to some other podcasts today and an idea came to me. I have long thought that Hive is an ideal platform for musicians who lack the massive following you need to make serious money elsewhere online. If you can get a few fans on board they will support your posts as well as earning for themselves. There is potential to use HBD to sell tickets and merchandise.

My idea is to showcase some Hive musicians on the podcast. If you can send me some audio where you talk about what Hive does for you I will include one of your tracks on the show. Your audio should be up to three minutes. You should say who you are, what sort of music you make and how you are using Hive. If you send that audio to me along with a track you would like featured I will have an incentive to get recording.

You can send me files via email or Discord. I am steevc on Gmail and Discord.

Some people I would like to hear from include @stickupboys, @soundlegion, @ravenmus1c, @nupulse and @ugochill. I am thinking more of those who produce and market their music rather than those just posting videos for things like the Open Mic contest, but I would like to get a range of views.

I know Hive has some rough edges, but the user experience has improved over the years with tools like Keychain. We have 3speak to host videos, CastGarden for podcasts, microblogging on LeoFinance and Ecency. You can create a rich social media presence with these.

Who is up for it?

Awesome idea mate, and you can certainly count on me.
Perhaps some basic questions would help to organize all these various thoughts into something coherent. :)
I'll put it on my to do list..few weeks max.

Cool. I don't see all that goes on here with music and I know people will use other platforms too. Hive is currently a pretty small audience and I think some people feel it is not ready for them to bring their fans over, but doing so would make a big difference. We are the pioneers.

There's no big rush. I would hope to record something in the next couple of weeks. I may even try to squeeze out another episode on other topics before then.

What a fabulous idea. I’m working on some music at the moment and unlikely to release much before 2024, time permitting and all of that.

You are welcome to contribute to this too. I think it helps to bring people together to exchange ideas.

good one, will see if we can put something together!

Cheers. No big rush, but I would like to record in the next couple of weeks.

Sounds like a great idea for MobeyDick to try and contribute to! @clairemobey - check this out and let me know your thoughts?

Indeed! We'll definitely have a look <3

Since my first days on Hive I did notice that artist do great on Hive, I have seen people drawing and playing instruments like the violin getting a lot of support from the community, you can tell not only by the votes but also for the engagement, you can have people do covers or play their own music, long term should do great with the consistency and following of your account, God Speed 💪

Hive offers something for musicians of all levels. We have some professionals, so it's interesting to know how they use it.

Sounds so interesting, never knew you do hold a podcast though. This is an opportunity to put some of our wonderful musicians into the limelight, they can!

Trust me! We have the power to change something here, though it might be directly proportional to years of consistent building. I've always been a guitarists and also play more of piano

I will try to check some of these musicians out. Good you're sharing this, thanks.

I do what I can to support musicians as I want to see more of them on Hive.

Sounds nice

That's a awesome idea Steve !!

Looking forward to seeing what kind of response you get!

Ooh it will even make your podcasts to be more interesting
That's a good move, my friend

That's a good way to promote new talent.
