RE: Who Writes Hive's Strategy?

in #hive • 6 days ago

Don't we already vote up the witnesses to do what they think is best? We may just need them to work more together and some of them do talk. Usually there are a few at Hivefest, but it looks like less people were there this time. That said, I do think we need more of the people with the power working out where we are going. We seem to be drifting a bit. I know some core development goes on and some projects promise attractive features, but the world still doesn't know about Hive. I'm no marketing guy, but I think we should be able to do better generally.

Witnesses generally dont need to do anything other than produce blocks. So us voting them doesnt have much to do with anything related to strategy or direction of Hive. Any of them that do more, do it because thats just what they want to do. A witness position doesnt require anything beyond that. It definitely does not require coordination on direction of Hive and strategy. Thats completely a separate thing.

Yeah, I mean its precisely the lack of direction and leadership. I know active participation in coordinating effort towards a common goal is a fools hope at this point from most whales. Human nature... "he should, why dont you, why wont he, why should i. " I mean most wont even respond to me, thats been... annoyingly for some around for 8 years, haha. Imagine a regular person or someone from outside Hive what kind of trouble they would have reaching Hive authority.
And then theres the fact most dont consider themselves authority.

These 20 people I named are absolutely who could make these decisions. They would just need to coordinate. Some want to, some dont think they have to, some dont want to. Therfor, heres the option. Elect either those that will or elect a program you aim to support. Delegate that responsibility to others.

Problem solved. Well, ofc no guarantee of success but a guarantee of coordination for sure.

I wonder why people vote for those top witnesses. I select those who I think are doing good stuff and deserve support. I am placing some trust in them. Of course a few people really get to decide on who is top and influence the proposals too, but we should use our votes to try and influence things.

We need some forum where people can put in their suggestions and step up to actually do stuff. It should be in the open where possible.

Yeah, I take the same approach. But the position itself is not really responsible for anything, except block production.

Its not going to be used. Hivers are very set in their ways. Those that are still around just kind of do their daily thing. I honestly think for anythign to change you would need to vote in a strategy like proposed above so I number of people lead the efforts.

It sounds like you just need to get a few of these people together and get on with it. I wish you luck with that :)
