Use your right to vote !
It's the end of the year , time to check your witness votes again, after last hardfork November 19th 2025 some witnesses decided to stop, and others decided to join.
While i'm curating posts I also often check if people are still voting for active witnesses.
Often people have voted once in the past + 5 years ago and never looked back at it .
The screen shot below from https://primersion.com/witnesses shows a good exampele of an account that is stil active but has never looked at his / her witness votes again, and is still voting for 12 inactive witness servers.
Would it help if people receive a pop-up from the front end website whene ver they are still voting for an inactive witness ?
Others never looked at the witness voting page simply because they started playing a game on Hive and probably aren't even aware that there are witness servers running .
Some people only use some votes , and then simply stopped caring about it .
If you want to have a quick look on what you are voting for you can either use : https://primersion.com/witnesses ( it does show you all inactive witnesses you voted for at the topof the page) , https://cutehive.com/ [make sure you set it in settings to show the top 200 ] or https://peakd.com/me/witnesses ( look for the red and green dots to see what is active or not , where red is inactive and green is active . )
Those are the only ones that actually show you if the witness is still creating blocks or not , so that you can see if you vote for an inactive witness or not.

It also shows you how you can set a proxy for your account.
A proxy will do the voting for you instead that way you don't have to bother about it . You can always undo the proxy and take control over your votes again when you have the time or need for it .

Not very often, but I check the list from time to time. Last time, thanks to your reminder, I stopped voting for an inactive witness and started supporting you instead.
i've been reminding people for 2 months now and still you see active people with a lot of votes on inactive witnesses .
You also see a lot of active people not using all of their witness votes , for whatever reason .
I think most people don't use witness votes because they think they're unnecessary. If they knew they were important, they would use them.

A bit shorter time of votes expiration could do the job... But when it happens, it should just remove all votes, and when you "come back", you should pick your votes again... Atm, I think it works like that on Hive-Engine, but not on HIVE...

Thank you for this post. I just checked my witness votes. I will check to see which ones I need to vote on to use all my votes, if that's the preferred way to do things on Hive...still learning....
there is a lot to learn when you arrive on Hive , there are many places with the same info if needed @theterminal is a good place to start ;)
