BLM Impacting Computer Spaces: What About Hive?

It seems like BLM movement is coming to software, programming language, and all the other "race based" terms like "master" and "slave".

When I see terms like master and slave, database comes to mind immediately and I don't see race or color. I don't mean or use master/slave DB as a racial term but I think I should be more careful about those terms because if I mean it or not, those terms can be offensive to some people.
I have experienced a lot while living in the US and being an Asian in here can be hard at times so I want to be sensitive and mindful to these movements.

I think it is a same thing for computer space. Master and slave concepts are used everywhere like "Master branch", "master/slave process", "master password"... etc, even thought we don't mean it as a racial terminology but it reflects racial background or history.

Companies, organizations, projects are taking steps

Github is dropping the term "master" to more neutral term like "main".

Python wants to avoid the use of master and slave because of the association of slavery.

projects like the OpenSSL encryption software library, automation software Ansible, Microsoft's PowerShell scripting language, the P5.js JavaScript library, and many others are looking at changing the name of their default source code repos, in a bid to stamp out racially-charged and slavery-related terms, in a way of showing support for the BLM movement and their protests.

Blacklist / Whitelist

I am not exactly sure where these terminologies came from racial background... they might not be originated from slavery but they imply
Black -> Bad
White -> Good
And some engineers are changing "blacklist" to "blocklist"

I actually think this is a great idea and Hive should adopt these changes because this is supporsed to be a blockchain that's embrace "Community".
People from all over the world are creating communities and connecting to people from different cultures and backgrounds on this platform.
I know there is a global blacklist project going on here but I think it should be changed to "blocklist" or some thing that's not "black and white"?

What? Never thought of that.. But interesting.. :-)

I didn't think about that either haha 😆

These people cannot be appeased. And by "these people" I don't mean black folks. I mean the middle to upper income White girls and the incels who worship them.

They continually spout about "inequality"and how you shouldn't say or do certain things because you may hurt someone feelings.

These people have been coddled their whole lives and have been led to believe that their opinion is the right one and everyone else should bow to their whims.

They also believe, consciously or not, that minorities just do not have the intellectual capacity to do anything for themselves. When a minority does succeed in some capacity they are derided and called Uncle Toms or worse or ignored outright.

Check this article from several years back by a self proclaimed liberal public defender. https://www.amren.com/features/2014/05/confessions-of-a-public-defender/

So my question is this: why should we change the language to keep from offending someone who damned sure doesn't mind offending you?

I have seen this and experienced for sure, not just black or what, from everyone. And those LA youtubers and influencers or whatever are using BLM for marketing for their brands so there is a lot going on...

Come to the... not-bright side, @tomoyan. I am your father

lol 😂 there is no side I can go

Actually on these BLM things, I don't give a shit about it while these fools(maybe not the majority though) are behind with it that knows nothing on their own countries slavery history and I have no intention on racism.

Yes, i know... there is a lot going on here and racism. but racism is real wheter you live in the US or not, its everywhere and i am glad you actually DO care about the issue. first step is to "see" the issue.

well in the end the most racist persons are the anti-racist people

and "blind" to the issue

Yay!
