I could not more strongly agree with you. Folks that plagiarize or 'borrow' a pic - and on some platforms that's been the way things are done for literally decades - should be alerted that doing those things isn't ok, and then left to productive contributing unless and until they err. But that's not how HW works. It really is one strike and you're out with them. I've been supporting some accounts for years that have been posting original content all that time - and are still getting zeroed out on every.single.post.and.comment.
It's ridiculous.
It's not a mystery why Hive has the worst user retention in the social media market. HW is why.
Thanks!
There are days when negativity takes over (for a minute) and I think back on how many awesome people left over silly things. Its a shame.
I don't think wanting to build the economic value of your account on Hive is a silly thing, and the actual math makes that impossible, not difficult, or improbable, but literally unable to be done, for accounts flagged to zero on every post and comment. It is illuminating that this is the practice, rather than the obviously reasonable practice of flagging to warn someone not to continue plagiarizing or posting pics without attribution when they do that. There is a different reason that accounts are flagged to zero permanently than the stated reasons for flags.
That reason is power to control Hive. If a colluding group of stakeholders forthrightly stated they were going to maintain majority stake and control Hive governance, the market for Hive would be reduced, if not eliminated. Suits or criminal complaints might even arise (IANAL, but falsely claiming decentralization and censorship resistance when deliberately centralizing and censoring may be actionable). If some mechanism could overcome that collusion, it might even be tried. Certainly stating such intent would be laying down a gauntlet. So, the colluding group of stakeholders does not admit that is what they are doing. HW larps as retarded middle schoolers demanding outrageous humiliation to cease zeroing out all rewards to victim accounts, knowing that almost no one is so abject they would submit to such humiliation. When HW flagging can't be justified, other conspirators step up, blacklisting selected targets and eliminating their extraction of rewards permanently, for any reason, or no reason stated.
Because of enormous pools of socks some ninjamined accounts have today, it's quite possible that some of the flagwars were merely simulated. Bernisanders probably eliminated tens of thousands of users before just vanishing (after committing crimes by threatening people). The bidbots probably did too, just by degrading the platform beneath any normal person's level of self respect.
Frankly, it's just a matter of time before some kind of legal action is dragged to Hive by these behaviours, even if Hive is run by actual spooks. I've seen that the pseudonymity availed by Hive can be broken with facility, and there are certainly still hactivists competent to despoil spook ops that eventually will if that's what it is.
All we can do is enjoy the ride while it lasts.
