1 MILLION views

This Halloween I’m pleased to say that a music video I made just over 5 months ago for goth metal pioneers Paradise Lost has finally reached over 1,000,000 views on YouTube! 🤯

I’m so chuffed that this video found an audience like this. It’s reached a million views way before another different video for the same band that I shot a few months before.. so I’m waiting for that to hit too!

Anyway, it’s a good feeling to know that your work is being watched and appreciated.
In a lot of corporate jobs my work tends to never be noticed or considered.
But with music - the bands fans are right there along for the ride, hungry for some art and inspiration. (in a non-cheesy way)

The song thankfully a really powerful ear-worm of a track and I think it that really helped with it being so popular.
I don’t for a second think that it’s my visuals that brought anyone to view the video, but it feels good to know it’s been seen.

You can see the video in all its glory right here:

I’m excited and pleased for the band.
Cheers for reading and supporting my video work :)

I bet they're fun to have at a party.

In seriousness, I quite like the song, great video, were the birds just a bonus, or did you have to wait around for them?

Where did you shoot it?

😂
They’re actually very funny blokes in real life!
Good Yorkshireman.

Thanks for the compliment!
Yes I did shoot the birds specifically for this video! So glad you spotted them.

I spread ages on the moors waiting for a flock and I finally got the shot on a long lens 70-200.
The solo bird shot was flying towards me but it was very windy - so it was flying in to the wind which slowed it down considerably. It might have been hovering on purpose. I was so please because I shot it again a blue sky - perfect chroma backdrop to cut it out.

I love adding bird shots to my videos, it’s become a bit of a motif 😁

Oh also to answer your other question, the band shots were done at Ilkley Moor and the other shots were a Marsden Moor which is closer to me

amazing

Congrats man! That's HUGE

After listening to these guys (after making a few of their videos), I guess you are getting into all that grunting stuff? They still remind me of Opeth in the terms of clean and grunting vocals.

Yeah I’m a fan of the growls to be honest.
That style isn’t entirely to my taste but when Paradise Lost do it, it’s classy.
It’s done with intent, reason and control.
It’s not some angsty emo-death-core kids bopping about screaming and then singing harmonies about how they’re getting bullied at school..

PL carry a weight like no others in their league really.

Thanks for continuing to make Hive awesome.
