RE: HiveForum KL Roundtable (Sun 19 OCT 2025): Improving DAO Spending, Accountability & ValuePlan Transparency

in #hiveforum2 days ago

Wake me up when the 'under new management' sign goes up, because unless the power hierarchy changes, nothing else is likely to change, either.

In '17 the order went out to kneecap steem with linear rewards and a two year development walkabout.
This move allowed the bidbots to run free.
Also included in this new management package was flagging all the content creators with enough traction to earn a buck.
Now, some of this flagging was not institutional, and we got rid of that guy at the fork, but the basic theory, no rewards for anybody but us and our sycophants, persists.

In the grand scheme of things the rewards pool is small potatoes, but it is a leak in the hourglass, as long as the environment remains toxic to people that could have made us more popular, it will never fulfill its purpose of attracting the masses to play in our game.

We were the #3 crypto in the world.

(All hail stinc!)

We could be again, but not with the current power dynamics.

I propose a 1000mv 'whale experiment' be replicated and then we poll the crowd about how that is working for them.

Were this to be done, we could bring back some form of gamification to content discovery like we had before the coders and their bots ruined it for the restivus.

For those of you that don't know, in the beginning, before the bots' code ruined it, the first person to vote on a post could substantially increase their curation returns were that post to later get voted by a whale.
In fact, everybody that voted before the whale had their curation returns increased upon a whale vote.

All hail the coders, for f'n that up!

Control freaks gotta control.™
And, greedy folks gotta greed™.
