Presentation: Michael @masterswatch – Worldmappin – The Hive Map Service

One of the highlights at the Hive Summit in Aachen was the presentation of Worldmappin, the largest travel community on Hive. Michael shared the journey of the project, which started as Steemit World Map in 2017, later became Pinmapple, and today has grown into Worldmappin. Thanks to a strong team, open source development, and support from the Hive community, the project is moving faster than ever.

Over the past year Worldmappin integrated with several Hive frontends, improved speed and usability, launched new challenges and introduced a delegation program. The map now has more than 145,000 travel pins and is growing every day. With a curation team reviewing close to 100 posts daily, only high quality travel stories are featured in the travel digest.

The project is more than a map. It is a hub for authentic travel experiences, hidden gems, and inspiration for future journeys. Features like leaderboards, challenges, and gamification keep the community active and engaged. The road ahead is full of plans, including redesigning the site, more gamification, better SEO, and tools for road trips and personal travel hubs.

Worldmappin is currently supported by Hive’s DHF for two years, but the long-term vision includes outside partnerships and new ways to sustain growth. The call at the summit was clear: the project has the potential to bring new users from the web2 world to Hive, and everyone is invited to contribute ideas and support.

Hi @masterswatch, @Worldmappin and @louis88, here is an idea to get some money for the worldmappin project:

I am an owner of a flat/apartment in the Eifel (Details).
I would give some HBD regularly, for showing my apartment (lets say in another colour than for the travel posts) on worldmappin.com
I am sure, we find other hotel- or apartment owner, who would love to have a pin in your map and would pay for it.

Regards, Achim

Yes absolutely agree with you, in about 3-4 months when we roll out the next big update those are the things that we are planning to work on 😉😎

Please keep me informed. It would be a great honour for me, to know that our flat would be one of the first in worldmappin.

Will do u r already on my todo list 😎

....and this is a long list

....suuuppperrr long list 🤣🙊

Nice idea - let's fugure out a little business case for this!

Not sure that topic is covered by the distriator project /filter (once implemented) already @achimmertens. There you can see all the shops and businesses that accept HBD as currency :) - What do you think @detlev?

Thank you @louis88 for the amazing pictures :D

Well done @masterswatch! 😎🤙 Thanks @hivesummitaachen for sharing the talk.
