The dutch government had aimed to have all trains in the country powered by renewable energy by 2018. According to the business insider they have beaten their target and managed to get 100% of trains in the country running on renewable energy (mainly wind power) since the beginning of this year.
This is hardly surprising coming from the home of windmills. According to dutchnews.nl there are 2200 windmills in the country. It is estimated that enough power is generated from these to power over 2 million homes.
That sounds like a good initiative :)
