ANNUAL FAMILY FLOAT TRIP~AND MOST AWESOME BNB EVER!!

in #homestead3 years ago

BEST ONE YET!!!

The past few years our whole family has taken a break from the world, and retreated to one of our amazing rivers in the bi-state region. This time we chose Black River.

It was crystal clear and a perfect temperature for playing in.

It took us about eight hours to complete the float and along the way we had a fantastic time. All the family really enjoyed the together time, and being able to do it in such beautiful outdoor surroundings.

*This guy also seemed to be enjoying himself as well as he stacked rocks.

THE BED AND BREAKFAST

Was really neat. It was in a biker/cowboy type setup and it was obvious a lot of time, thought, and money went into the design and implementation went into making this place so amazing!

*The table was a solid slab of a log, and the seats were converted tractor seats!

*The bunk beds, made using rough cut logs and some regular lumber.

ELEPHANT ROCK STATE PARK

By far the funnest part of our vacation.

KIMG8316.JPG
*The beginning of the trail.

KIMG8332.JPG
*Evan as he is almost smashed by giant boulders.😁

KIMG8324.JPG
*One of several giant rocks that are just hanging out at the top of the rock outcropping.

KIMG8330.JPG
*A friend trying to push a giant rock out of our way.😁

KIMG8363.JPG
*At ground level the rocks formed a massive labyrinth.

KIMG8365_12_BURST1008365.JPG
*I decided to try my luck making it to the top.

KIMG8337.JPG
*After finding an easier path, the rest of my family did the same, as the maze was not easy to navigate.😁

IT'S THAT TIME

To return to the homestead. We all have hugs and loves and we parted ways. As amazing as the adventure had been the last three days, I was ready to be back home on the homestead. I missed my pups and animals...and being home in general. After having to park my truck on so much pavement, day after day,it was nice to pull her into her favorite rest area....

Also, real quick, I was able to work on the dam a bit.💪💪 Here's a quick shot of where I'm at with it. I'll have an update on it in the next couple of days.

*Still definitely a work in progress but I added a couple feet to the height, and the same to it's thickness. Hoping to be finished in a week with the clay form and starting to pour concrete within two weeks.🎉🎊🎉🎊..... hydroelectric, here we come!!!
