That is the way it goes. We had the same struggle here and we came to a compromise and went with a little bigger piece of property and we are really happy we did. Sometimes it helps to sit down and put it on paper, what you want to do and research what it takes to do what you looking to do. There are multiple variables to everything and it boils down to research and asking yourself what are the most important things to both of you. Animals are the biggest thing, one cow takes an acre to have enough grass to feed it without buying hay to feed it, even then sometimes you might have to, the land also has to be able to grow that grass. Exactly ignore all the YouTube videos about x amount of food per acre. That's only possible in best case, best climates, vegetarian etc. You need allot5of land to produce sustainable.
