Prepper Guide approves of this very inexpensive and reliable solar panel kit and gives it two thumbs up...

Thanks for sharing. I just saw that coupon in this past weeks email. I have been looking at the 45 watt old Harbor Freight setup vs the Renogy 100 watt panel for $190 on Amazon. Don't suppose you have ever tried that one?

I was wondering about the solar panel kits from HF. I have heard mixed reviews. I trust SP1 though so I will have to get these!

Thanks for sharing!

I am skeptical of Harbor Freight electronics. I'm curious how well it holds up over the long haul.

Looks like a easy set up kit. Would be a good starter set for a homestead.

Thanks for reviewing this. Question-- What can you expect to power with this setup? Can you run more than a few led bulbs? I know it is limited, but do you have any examples of what you are planning to use it for? Thanks!

For instance could it heat the winter water in the chicken coop?

So the kit as sold produces 12 volts DC @ 6.8 amps. I'm guessing that if you heat water in the chicken coop, the heating device plugs into a wall outlet (AC alternating current ) If you wanted to use this kit you'd have to see if you could locate a 12 vdc heater or purchase an inverter to convert the DC output of the solar panel kit to AC, then you could probably use your existing heating device, keeping in mind the wattage of the heating device.... Hope this helps

Thanks. It does help. And we have until winter...Maybe November to figure it out.

I may have missed this info, but are you SouthernPrepper1?

No, I'm not Southern Prepper, Alex Jones or Peter Schiff. Currently, I post information, news stories and videos that I think are interesting .. I don't necessarily agree or disagree with the content of said videos...

Regarding Harbor Freight: they are a company of mainly low quality but cheap goods . What they sell is mostly not something I'd recommend; however, from time to time I do purchase and I have purchased some of their solar kits. I found tha 45w solar kit a very good buy for the money.

This new 100w solar kit goes on sale on the 4th of July, and I have a 25% off coupon that'll I think is valid. So I'm grabbing one of the kits if any are left...
