RE: We Saved Bees From a Couch!!

in #homesteading7 years ago

How on Earth did the bees get to that couch up to the point of building the comb that big without the couch owner trying to swat them away from the very start!? Was the couch in a garage or storage area that the owners did not immediately notice the bees starting to invade the beloved wrecked couch?

It is amusing to know your process of dealing with bees when I always had the impression that dealing with them is dangerous. When I saw the movie Leave No Trace, there was a scene there where it presents getting the creatures' trust that they don't sting humans. Is that true? The characters in the movie have bees in their hands just like a catterpillar.

I don't know about trust, but a bee can 'smell' pheromones that humans make. If the person is calm then they don't release a fear pheromone and most bees won't sting you. But this isn't a strict rule. Some bees are just more aggressive than others.
Thx

Its too true bruv when I fear them i get stung when I am chilled not, very smart creatures they really are. The most studied creature right behind humans at number 1. Cheer$;)

I didn't realize they were the most studied. but that doesn't surprise me at all.

Here is to "Staying calm" and "rescuing lots of interesting hive finds this coming year!"

I don't really know about the right term they used in the movie but something like that trust. I grew up in a farm where bees show up once in a while but my parents never said about pheromones that bees smell. We siblings were told just to avoid them. Maybe I'll try to be calm next time. 😊 Thanks for the tip.
