Mass animal production/processing, while profitable, can be rough on the human psyche.

I ran 1200-1500 birds per year for awhile. Made some good $$, but it got rough mentally, physically and psychologically.

I pray I never dream of processing chickens again.

I now run through 50-75 birds a year. Much more manageable.

Oh wow, I agree so much! That is a serious amount of birds to deal with, you must have needed a poultry-free sabbatical after that run! Dang!

Life is much more enjoyable now that we just deal with the subsistence end of animal production, and thank you for stopping by, I can't wait to wander through more of your blog posts!
