Image-Line just shipped FL Studio Mobile 5 for iOS and Android, and it is a big one. Ten years after the app first put a full studio on your phone, this is the biggest update since.
The headline is FL Cloud Sounds built right into the app. Open the new Sounds tab and you get thousands of free sounds with no account needed. If you have an FL Cloud plan, the full library of over two million royalty-free sounds is right there on your phone, same as desktop. Previews stream, so browsing does not eat your storage. Only the sounds you actually use get downloaded.
Then there is portrait mode, finally. One of the most requested features ever. You can now make beats holding your phone the way you hold it all day, or lock it to portrait or landscape in settings.
The whole look is redesigned too: Playlist, editors, Channel Rack and transport bar, all cleaner and easier to read, plus live UI scaling with no restart. Workflow gets drag and drop from the Browser, your file manager or other apps, better mouse and keyboard support, Paste preview, Smart Solo, and Burn Notes to Track, which turns Arpeggiator, Scale, Transpose, Note Echo and Randomizer into real editable notes.
Best part: if you already own the app, the update is free under Image-Line's Lifetime Free Updates promise.

And here is the official what's new video:
It is out now on the App Store and Google Play. Anyone already updated? Curious how portrait mode feels in a real session.
Wonder how much AI is being integrated into these new versions of stablished apps like Photoshop. FL Studio sort of the Photoshop of music production and there has been a lot of AI done on music, like Suno. But for people that want to work withing the structure of a studio software and granular regulate how much AI help they need and what they want to keep manual, this could be a good balance. Have you seen this topic being discussed on the FLS community?
That is the big question with FL Mobile 5, it is already such a huge update that any new AI bits would have to earn their keep in the workflow.
Funny enough yesterday I was researching the open source counterpart of FL Studio on Linux... LMMS and asked Gemini if there are any AI features being developed. Unfortunately there isn't, but you can get AI through the plugins.
