The American company Webber + Studio signs the Barcode House, a new addition to the many new buildings in the Bouldin residential area of the Texas city of Austin.
It was built between the existing trees, which influenced the layout of the house. Designed for a family of four, the house is clad in metal cladding consisting of vertical stripes that create a barcode-like pattern, hence its name, but it is fully painted white to stand out from the foliage . The 158 m2 structure has a forward-facing garage and steps on the left side leading to an orange door. While the front of the street has only a small amount of glazing, the back has much larger windows to maximize the natural light entering the house. Inside, there are plywood walls while the floors are concrete, offering a warm rendering.
