Going to 12 rounds. Only 4 speakership votes have gone on longer than this in the entire history of the House.

His speakership still is likely dead for the time being, but we may see fewer votes against him today. In any case if he does pull off the impossible here he's going to be essentially a Speaker in name only with the crazy wing of the GOP empowered.

Either way this was going to be a dysfunctional majority focused on idiotic things like investigating Fauci, so I can't say I'm terribly torn.

Notable concessions include:

  1. A motion to vote on removing the Speaker requiring just one member.

  2. Giving House Rules Committee seats to the House Freedom Caucus

  3. Vote on term limits

  4. Standalone appropriation votes allowing floor amendments from any representative.

  5. Congressional Leadership Fund staying out of the primaries for safe Republican seats.
