Origins of the word fuck as an expression of frustration

in #humanity6 years ago

Other than the obvious meaning of the term, it is interesting to consider elements of the evolution of the word fuck as a term representing frustration. Here are some notes from my study of the topic:

Origins possibly late 1500s (could be earlier for other meanings)
Meant "strike"
Came to illustrate frustration
Could be seen as the anthem of the revolutionaries ("striking")
Represents the frustration of the PEOPLE
Reflects times of lack of leadership

You can imagine that during that time, "Fuck the king, if he doesn't care about the people" was equivalent to a prayer of "Ignore him Gd, as he doesn't do your will."

The lesson here is that if a leader doesn't care about his people, he will lose favor in Gd's eyes, per the request of the people through this message. If a king should hear his people use the word fuck, he should beware and immediately focus on the needs of the people to save his position. Or, their prayers will erode his kingdom.

If you prefer, read it like this: "If a leader's people are frustrated, they will not focus where he leads, but on their frustration instead."

Next time you hear someone using the expression, consider it's possible cause as frustration and consider it an opportunity to help another human.

Reality is so much more interesting than we can imagine. Long live humans.

Best wishes,
Lisa
