Hurricane Irma, right, left or dead on to Florida?

The latest computer models have shifted Irma towards the east coast of Florida on Sunday.

Here in SW FL, being on the left of the storm is preferable. Why?

When #Irma starts heading north, the right-front side will be the strongest.

In general, the strongest winds in a hurricane are found on the right side of the storm because the motion of the hurricane also contributes to its swirling winds.

High winds aren't the only or even the most dangerous part of a hurricane: storm surges pose the greatest threat to life when a hurricane comes ashore. Combined with the tide, a storm surge can raise the water level in coastal areas by up to 30 feet.

Storm surge will be greatest along that part of the coast hit by the right side of the advancing hurricane.

At the time of this post, #HurricaneIrma is moving west-northwest at 16 mph and still remains uncertain what will happen since it all depends on a variety of moving parts in the atmosphere.
