Over a week after Tropical Storm Harvey first rained down on Texas, we are now watching Hurrican Irma.

Like Harvey and other Atlantic hurricanes, Irma started as a tropical wave off the coast of Africa and began a slow, westward churn across the Atlantic.

it's too early to tell where it might strike. ... but if it does come near your neck of the woods, you will want to be on the left side of where it hits.

This is because, usually, the strongest winds in a hurricane are found on the right side of the storm because the motion of the hurricane also contributes to its swirling winds.

Irma exhibits an unusual—but not unprecedented—rate of growth, according to meteorologists.

Now is the time to prepare for the worst, but hope for the best if you are in the area that might be in the up coming path of Irma.
