Episode 1
It was still raining.
Genevieve stared out of the window, searching the sky on any chink in it grey armour, but there wasn't even the smallest trace of blue.
With a sigh she turned away from the depressing sight and looked around the shop, her eyes lingering worriedly on the full tubs of colourful flowers. It was mid may, almost the heights of the florist's season, yet she'd hardly sold a thing for the past few weeks, thanks to the inclement weather. If it didn't break soon, then she shuddered to think what would happen. She spent hours going over the book last night, but no matter how hard she tries to twist and turn the figures round it was obvious she was running out of money fast. Another few days of this unceasing downpour and it will be all over the bar and shouting.
More depressed than ever, she walked back to the work bench to finish off the last order she had on her books, a delicate arrangement of Dendrobium orchids and tiny rosebuds. With deft, skillful fingers she twisted length of the pale pink ribbon into bows and pinned them to the edges of the white wicker basket before sitting back to view the effect.
It was beautiful, one of the best thing she'd ever done, yet she knew there was no way she could charge the customer it full value. The man who had ordered it for his wife and new-born baby daughter had been poorly dressed, his face worried as he hesitantly queried how much it would cost, and, in her usual impulsive way, Genevieve had almost halved the figure.The trouble was that kind heart and business just didn't seem to mix up well ____ something her bank manager made a regular point of telling her!
The telephone rang and she quickly laid a tiny satin bow aside to answer it, praying it would be a customer, and one who could afford to pay..
