What used to be a weekly update turned occasional seems to be working as it has been a busy 15 days. How much fun is it to peruse the pictures on your phone and remember fun moments and share them with a legion of Hive Bloggers from across the world? Enough for weekly excitement in the Zekely but this is a 2-week doubleshot.
In this edition, I am enjoying overdue of spring weather by spending time both indoors and out!

Music & Kids

One of my little ones has been in the school symphonic band a couple years now after joining with next to no music experience. They gave her a triangle back then and now she is a strong part of the percussion section. When she asks me if I am free at 7pm on any night because the band is performing a live rehearsal, I go. So neat to see and they are buffing up for the national championship so this is legit! Proud dad.

Business

We @town-crier / https://towncriermarketing.ca were in a little competition of our own as we were nominated for a Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award in the Service category. The nomination is recognition enough for a marketing company as we can publicize anything. The awards gala is always a special night as gathering in a room with all of the other celebrated business owners is pretty good company. We didn't take home the hardware which is just as well for us but Table 27 was again the 'Fun Table' and we had a fantastic evening at this fancy event.

Business has cranked up a notch as we have scaled up our operation with a new office space right downtown with all the businesses we support. One of them is rather fancy and now popular at lunch time as the busy season approaches. I like to drop by for a business meeting, snap a few pics for the social media posts, and maybe have a beer. As fantastic as https://revival.house is in the cathedral, they have a great outdoor option now that the warmer weather is almost here.

While staff is busy attending to patrons indoors, the owner and master gardener in the middle of the picture are hard at work prepping the terrace for summer action. There is a bit of tidying & setting up with a great deal of garden prep to be done. You can either visit my blog posts from last year or tune in this summer as I share the growth and floral explosion that happens here. This will act as the before shot that I can compare with a very different one during the summer solstice where everything is in full bloom. Still a great place to drink a beer!

Out Doors

There was no hibernation for me as this little dood loves his runs in the park too much. We are almost through the wet season after a relatively mild winter and spring that took a while to arrive. It is a week and a half drier than this shot would lead you to believe and those little lakes have given way to dry green grass. He still sprints around with a smile on his dog face and finds all of the rest of the water to frolic in.

The trees are starting to show their buds a little later than last year. Better late than never and this will be a big green oxygen producer in no time.

With the delayed onset of the warmer part of spring has come a couple weeks of procrastination in the garden! Though we have been growing from seeds indoors, I have yet to do anything besides clean up a bit and mow the lawn outside. That leaves the prepping of all the soli for garden planting, and removing some of last years dead stuff so the new sprouts can grow. Some of the perennial flowers are getting a head start with plenty of daffodils and tulips budding and blooming.

In related news, the hops I started last year have survived the winter and are starting to climb! What #beerologist worth his salt wouldn't want to grow hops? These ones are Rakau which originate in New Zealand if I am not mistaken. Ah yes! https://yakimavalleyhops.com/products/rakau-hop-pellets Should make for a good late process hop for some fruity and piney IPA beer.

Speaking of Beer
.jpg)
Yes of course there was beer in the last 2 weeks! Plenty of it in fact. I didn't miss a beat with #beersaturday posts and this weekend will be sort of special. The vivid designs and weird beers of this region seem to be a popular topic so I have gone all in on the wild. Orange Creamsicle quadruple IPA? That and more this Saturday with @detlev & the crew. Join us!

The sun has gone down on another Zekely as I leave you with my best attempt at a @daveks sunset shot. The days are getting warmer, I have plenty of things to grow, and next edition will hopefully showcase a budding garden and summery weather.
Thanks for checking in riding the spring roller coaster!

Oh ya I always enjoy the beer. Maybe a bit too much?
Nice pictures! Growing hops is an amazing feat!
Man, you had an eventful two weeks. Defintely proud dad with the kids knocking out the tunage in band. Congrats on the business being nominated for the marketing award too. The flowers and hops are looking good. Hopefully you didn't have to wash the dog after that walk, but I imagine you did looking at all that water around. Man, something about Orange Creamcicle beer sounds really good.
Yah the dog used to need baths every time during the spring. Now the taps are turned on and I hose him off right at the park before taking him home.
Lots going on and only getting busier!
Oh, that has got to be convenient to have the water hose at the park. Well, I wish you the best and can't wait to see what is to come. I look forward to your posts regularly.
Orange Creamsickle... that looks interesting
Not sure you would like it as it is really damn strong and sport-hopped. You would probably enjoy the label while drinking a light lager though.
Oh the label is definitely awesome
Whooot - Orange Creamsicle sounds and looks so damn cool
It is out there for sure. The theme for this weeks #beersaturday expose!
There is nothing like watching your child proudly, isn't there? Seeing his father proud makes many sons happy. It makes me happy. Busy days never end, huh? Maybe you'll be less busy in the summer man
Oh I highly doubt it. With the new office, new clients and hopefully a boom in business, plus a vacation, trip, camping and all the fun stuff, should be a summer of adventure.
That means a lot things to share on Hive man. Lookinf forward to them 😂
you been a busy fellow there @zekepickleman .. hope you find time for the cool kids hangout today
Unfortunately not in the cards this week. On-site all day today but next week will hopefully be better.
The two weeks seem to be very memorable for you
That is very nice and I hope you enjoyed the Beer
