Nice analogy. A loss is only a loss if you realize it. You were given an unexpected chance to sell your house at $1Mil. But you can choose not to, you may like living in your house and you are no worse off than before.

Exactly. The only trouble comes if you hate yourself for not taking advantage of the chance to sell.
