Writing about freedom becomes a responsibility when India is celebrating it’s 72nd Independence Day today.
We all should realise that freedom came at a cost. The fight to get freedom saw sacrifices of many lives and to make sure we stay free, it needs lot of efforts on everybody part.
Today there was a cultural program in my kids school to celebrate this national festival and what a sterling performance was given by kids, I had goose bumps while watching it. Today’s generation should be aware of the struggle and sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. Just telling stories doesn’t always put an impression on kids mind. School kids as young as 5-6 years old staged a play about freedom fighters who got life sentence in Cellular Jail( most dark and gruesome colonial prison) which was also called Kala Paani in Andaman Nicobar. I feel it is a good way to teach children about our struggle so that they don’t take it for granted. The patriotic songs sung by kids got a loud cheering from audience. The grand finale song “Ae watan watan , mere abaad rahe tu.......was the highlight of the program. Link for the same song is given at the end of the post.

It is a day to be proud of and we surely are, at the same time to pledge that we will take our country towards a beautiful future to make our country a progressive India, which is free not only politically but socially also from social evils and stigmas.
It is a big responsibility on our shoulders to carry this freedom forward which we got on a golden platter.

Just thinking of all the attrocities makes goose bumps...it good some school still prefer to recreate the history through cultural programs ...it help our new generation to relate of all pain and make proper use of their freedom....Happy Independence Day👍
