Imagine having to survive an alleged gang rape and four separate acid attacks. Well one Indian woman has certainly had to go through that and then some. Over the weekend, police have confirmed that this woman has once again had corrosive liquid poured over her. The woman, being a 35 year old mother, was at a woman’s hostel in Uttar Pradesh state capital, Lucknow, when an unidentified man had scaled the walls and poured the chemical on to her. Witnesses have come out to speak up about the situation and state things such as, “She was filling water at the hand pump when the attack took place. The attacker fled from the spot,” said Vivek Tripathi, a local police chief. Due to the previous assaults the woman had faced, she was placed under 24/7 protection by her local police unit; however the armed policeman were unable to enter the woman’s hostel. The officer told media outlets that the police have launched a manhunt to identify the assailant.
It is a pathetic situation and no government is really interested in addressing this issue - except of course "Lip Service" in front of media!
