I am back with new facts, in this post I have chosen to give information/facts about Kalpana Chawla. She is an inspiration to many Indian youngsters who want to build a career in aerospace. Kalpana Chawla is first Indian origin woman go to space, she was born on March 17, 1962, in Karnal Punjab, India.
Facts about Kalpana Chawla :
Kalpana Chawla did Bachelor of Engineering in aeronautical engineering from India and Masters in aerospace from the University of Texas at Arlington.
She was second Indian to go in space after Rakesh Sharma who went in 1984.
Her first mission was in November 1997 and she was in the space for 15 days 12 hours.
She married Jean-Pierre Harrison in 1983. After her death, he wrote a book "The Edge of Time: The Authoritative Biography of Kalpana Chawla".
She died on February 1, 2003 due to the crash of Space Shuttle Columbia while returning to earth atmosphere on her 2nd mission.
